    Hasegawa 1:48 Bf 109G-2

Just started this one yesterday. Surprisingly, it is my first 109 in this scale. The dials and cockpit is fairly detailed but I would had liked to buy an eduard PE set, but didn't after all. I recently started using Tamiya extra thin cement. It is simply brilliant and works really well. I fully recommend it to every modeller. Sorry for the absence of photos, I will post them soon

Look forward to seeing the progress photos John. Agree with your comment regarding Tamiya Extra Thin Cement, I use it all the time.

Nice. I think the Fs and early Gs (before the G-6 with the bulges to accommodate the spent belt chutes for the heavier MG 131 machine guns) were the best looking of all Bf 109s.

        Cheers

My first attempt at pre shading ended up as a disaster.... Fortunately it looked alright under a coat of paint though. Here is a few pics. I had to do some rescribing and various other pains...

Here are more pics of the painting. I use the tamiya panel line wash for the panels. It works great and I have no complaints about it apart from it's price. ($10)!!

Here is more progress.... I added some seatbelts to the 109 from the eduard luftwaffe seatbelt set. Although the older PE set, it is still great. I picked this one up at the model expo at australia. The kit is a sound kit which could benefit from more surface detail. On a more positive note, the fit in the wings is really great. The wings, once assembled clips together and the fuselage to wing join requires no filler. Some flash featured which was cut off. A pity Hasegawa hasn't upgraded these moulds yet, as this kit is nearly there in terms of our thirst for detail.

Nearing the finish... I have masked the canopies and sprayed them. The fit of this kit is reasonably good.

Put the undercarriage down now. Sorry for the bad quality, it what's taken from my iPad.

All the wheels are down now. All I have to do is attach the rest of the undercarriage and finish off with the weathering.
