It's taken several months fitting in when I can but I've nearly completed my first full rescribe.

I have a can of Mr Surfacer 1000 to prime the plastic as soon as I've completed the last details.

Does anyone know if the Mr Surfacer 1000 is likely to 'fill in' the panel lines when I spray it? I know it's got a habit of self levelling. Cheers.

Taken a long time but I finished rescribing and have now painted the airframe with 2 shades of humbrol ghost grey.

I've learnt so much throughout this process. Lots of new tools and techniques so I guess it's been worth it. The panel lines are obviously way too deep etc but it's cool. I wanted to do it so spent the odd couple of hours here and there over recent months.

Anyway I'll continue and see how it all works out. Here's a pic...

Hobby Boss makes a great F14D that a friend of mine built and gave to a Navy captain who flew them for years. I watched him build it and it went together splendidly. You should give it a look as it might warm you up to F14's again. I admire your sticktoitness on this kit, I would have melted it down to a plastic puddle.

Well done for not binning it Phil. The rescribing looks ace. It's 100 times better than what you started with. What is it they say? Something about silk purses and sows ears. Look forward to seeing you cross the finish line with it.

Finally got this one finished. I've learnt so much through this build. I'm not particularly happy with the end finish but consider it a success in some ways. The decals were not great and I had a lot of trouble with the hum roll enamels which I will never use again. Cheers guys.

That looks really good Phil. At least you finished yours, which is more than I could say for my one

Whack a post in the completed builds section so we can give it a GB gong.

And never using Humbrol enamels again?? Sacrilege!

Hi Phil I was going to say I missed the start of this build, but then realised you started this a year ago before I joint!

Like you I have little precious time, I would not think about undertaking what you have with this kit because it would probably drive me insane!

Don't get me wrong I put a lot of time in, do a bit of scratch building and rescribing where needed but I'd probably always try to start off with a kit with as much initial quality as possible so fair play to you fella because you made an incredible job of this considering everything in my opinion!

                              Regards

                              Phil
