I've never understood that line from Top Gun. How can you be inverted, in a dive and pulling negative G? Unless you were pushing on the stick of course to recover from the dive... Anyway back to reality.
Looks good Rick, be interested to see how the pre-shading works out, I don't have much luck with it myself.
Masking applied to the DSG and Barley Grey panels using a new 11 scalpel blade. I need to finish the ejection seats now and fit them followed by the canopy which will be closed. The paint masks arrived the other day so things are ticking along.
I also picked up a tube of AK True Metal paint yesterday at my LMS to have a go at trying something with the exhaust nozzles. This could all go very wrong!
On the bench: Airfix 1/48 Sea King HC4, Revell 1/24 Trabant.
Coming soon: Airfix 1/72 Phantom FGR2.
Just finished: Airfix 1/48 Stuka & Airfix 1/72 Sea King HC4.
Got some work on the bang seats and canopy done. Lots of filing and trial fitting was required to get the height correct for clearance between the top of the seats and the canopy. Handles have been made for the top only from 0.2mm lead wire looped around some scrap round plastic rod then superglued onto the seat and trimmed. I still need to touch in some black on them and re-shape before the canopy gets fitted.
I finished the ejection seat handles and fitted the badly fitting canopy, it would have been simpler to assemble it open maybe but I had decided to do it closed and assembled the main canopy before realising the lousy fit. Some filling will be required.
Light Grey applied, the underside was a pain with lots of nooks and crannies. I applied a slightly darker shade around the wing roots with the wings forward as I have seen these with sweep marks from the weather shield then painted it with the wings swept.....shame that some of the paint scraped off!
