After a final push these are now done . All the little knocky off bits have been added and they've had a coat of matt varnish and a bit of subtle weathering . After carefully fettling the engine and machine gun covers on the Special hobby kit they can now be dry fitted for a full airframe or removed to show the engine and guns .
In summary - these are two very different ways to approach the subject. The special hobby is very detailed with its engine , cockpit ,guns etc and offers more options such as separate control surfaces and open canopy. The slight drawback to this is that in this scale it can be a very fiddly build needing much care . With patience and a steady hand it can build up into a lovely little model .
The Tamiya is a far simpler affair , offering no separate control surfaces or open canopy option ( well it wouldnt have if I’d had the original kit canopy ) The cockit is less parts than the special hobby but looks just as good when painted up . The superb quality of the tooling plus the straightforward build means that the Tamiya is a joy to do and quite quick too.
So its up to the individual , if you love a complicated fiddly challenge then the special hobby is a brilliant little kit but if you want a quick trouble free build that still looks fantastic then the Tamiya is perfect for that .
heres a few pics , more to follow on a completed thread , thanks to all who have been watching , cheers tony
