Definitely very skilled airbrush work to get that effect.

Thank you both very much. It's taking a while but surprisingly therapeutic ?

Some masking film arrived last night. I'm hoping to spray most of the markings once I'm happy with the camo.

Just read this from the start. A definite WOW build. As said by the others, - your skills with the A/B are just something else. The planning that you have brought into play to achieve what you have so far is very evident in the results you have produced Andy. That mottled finish - another league. I don’t even think I would have attempted that at all.

I will definitely follow this build to the end.

Sorry Jim, somehow I keep missing your replies. You're like some kind of comment ninja ? Thanks

            And thanks Paul & Doug.

When I first picked up an airbrush I wondered if I'd ever get the hang of it, but after a couple of years of practice it's starting to come together ?

I still prefer the big guns though ?

                Thanks Ian.

I've done the camo over the whole topside now, but will keep going back to look at it in case something needs tweaking. I've tried to make the pattern more bold near the wing roots, and less so as it spreads outwards.

Since the camo seems to have gone down well with you guys I'll run through how I went about it. I'm not saying this is the correct or only way, just how I did it.

Firstly I sprayed some light, random squiggles all over:

Click image for larger version Name:	PXL_20241104_174153629~2.jpg Views:	0 Size:	388.2 KB ID:	1239156

Over on t'other side, since I forgot to take pictures, I started to join some of the lines up to make shapes:

Click image for larger version Name:	PXL_20241104_180425492~2.jpg Views:	0 Size:	346.1 KB ID:	1239157

I then started to add shapes in-between, and gradually make them bolder:

Click image for larger version Name:	PXL_20241104_181324318~2.jpg Views:	0 Size:	374.0 KB ID:	1239158

Whilst doing that I got a massive splat, either from water or paint on the needle:

Click image for larger version Name:	PXL_20241104_181700939~2.jpg Views:	0 Size:	182.0 KB ID:	1239159

So I went back in with the lighter grey-green that was in my other airbrush:

Click image for larger version Name:	PXL_20241104_181820931~2.jpg Views:	0 Size:	420.4 KB ID:	1239160
                Then reinstated the camo shapes:

Click image for larger version Name:	PXL_20241104_182032461~2.jpg Views:	0 Size:	361.9 KB ID:	1239161

After dusting on a couple of light bending coats, it was done (although as I said earlier, I may touch some bits up) :

How on earth you kept your sanity when painting the mottle effect, is beyond me, But very well done.

Very few people that know me would say I'm sane ?

Thanks for the great feedback everyone. Let's hope I don't stuff it up when painting the markings ??

I thought you would say you had used a template mask, but no, you did the whole thing freehand!
                            Astonishing!

Thanks so much gents, it makes me all warm and fuzzy knowing you guys appreciate the work I put into it.

Neil - there were certainly times I wished I'd used a stencil instead, but powered through ?
