    Eduard 1:72 Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat

Well this little build started with the wife telling she out on Friday night, also busy on Saturday and out with dau no.1 on Sunday.
Brilliant, perfect for a nice little build. And here it is.

This has been waiting to see some daylight for a few years now. Actually, if the Cosford posse remember those days, I bought it at the last meet up.
As we know, the profipack comes with a bit of photo etch and a mask set for the canopy.
As you can see, again, Eduard doesn’t skimp on the detail.
skipping forward to the completed cockpit.
PE in 1:72, I’m sure I said I wouldn’t do PE in this scale again. But here we are. Tiny little throttle levers, in 1:72!
     and another angle,

Colin, we seem to be missing to photos mate.
Strength isn't about what you can do, rather it's about overcoming what you thought you couldn't do.

Well this is odd. I posted from my phone and a error did pop up, but it seemed to have cleared itself. I'm now viewing from my kindle and can see the pictures ? I'll have to have a look on the big computer in the morning.. Thanks for the heads up.

I’ve checked on the big computer and indeed, the pics are missing, although my phone and kindle show the pics in place. Let’s try again.

Posting problems aside, I’ve done a bit.

Then of course, we go and hide it all in the fuselage. There weren’t any location pins on the fuselage, location was mainly done by the cockpit.

Love the Hellcat. I always wanted the Airfix 1/24 new version but it costs an arm and leg.

Even though 1:72 PE is a bit of a pain to use. I'm quit amazed by the stuff.

I would have said it doesn’t really do anything for me. It doesn’t have the graceful curves of a Spitfire, or the sleek look of a Mustang.
However, sat in front of me in its shiny blue coat, I do think it’s looking quite nice.
whatever we say about its looks, there’s no doubting its ability as a fighter. I can’t remember the figures, buts its kill ratio was very good. In fact, I think it earned the named “Ace maker” that tells a story.

ID:	1241485 Moving on, we have wings. These are push-fit, no glue needed. Well, I did dribble a bit on just in case, but it really wasn’t needed.
And then a bit of primer.

so, with nice fast drying MRP, no point hanging around, give it 30 minutes and on with the colour.

Shiny sea blue. Weathering this is going to be difficult. Apparently, it was a really tough paint and survived the harsh sun and sea environment of the South Pacific rather well.
