Well, I've well and truley lost all claim to being the slowest builder on this forum. Nice to see it moving along again.

LoL......do I get a prize, Colin??? Just don't make it a kit - if it goes to the back of the stash, it'll never get made...

FINALLY.....interior complete and fuselage together. The seams are pretty awful and are going to need a lot of work, as is the lower wing join. Headrest needs re-shaping, the buldge and faring for the forward firing machine gun need to go, and I'm going to try and do something with that nasty seam in the rear cockpit.....next update around Febuary, then

              Coming along apace.

Better slow and happy with result than fast and unhappy.

              Tony.

Evening all, just another few pics for your enjoyment !! Thought I'd share the alignment of the fin with you..........now I know the quality of workmanship may have suffered a little during wartime, but I don't think the Fairey factory would have let this out, somehow...... The gun fairing has gone and work going on to blend in the cover over the rear canopy. It won't be 100% as it's come up a tad narrow, but I think it's close enough!! The last couple give you an idea of the quality ( ot lack of ! ) of the fit......nothing much for Mr Tamiya to worry about......hopfully the new version may change that.

                  Cheers, Neil

Hello again !! Sorry for the short delay !!! I'd got a bit bogged down with this, so decided to pack it away for a bit. I completed a few other builds, got my mojo back and carried on. So this is where I'm up to.......

I've used an automotive matt black on the underside, and Tamiya rubber black on top. Really pleased with the result, I think it gives a good scale colour. Not sure if I want to mask off and do the ribs yet....

The engine has come out quite nicely too - just hope I don't ruin it with the painting !!!

                    Cheers, Neil

Hello agian. Few more bits done....engine/prop/exhaust finished and painted, and added a few little details - fuel tank cap, grab handels, alerion actuators, target sight and side step. A little bit of finishing off and I think it'll be time for decaling.

Hi all, back again, with this weeks installment which I shall be calling " Decal Disaster"....

So, I start with the Airfix roundels / fin flashes and (old) Matchbox code letter and serial numbers. The Airfix suff, no problem, work a treat.

The matchbox ones, however, decide to break up as soon as they hit the water. So off to Fleabay, where I manage to find and buy and old Esci sheet nice and cheap. All's well, but I take the precautionary measure of coating them with Microscale liquid decal film, just in case. Bad idea, as this leaves a milky white film all over them. When it drys, I'm able to carefully scrape it off again, not not too much of a problem, if slightly annoying.

In and out of the water, and on they go, not too bad until the Micro Sol/Set hit them, at which point they start to curl up !! I try various methods, but in the end manage to sort them using some Humbrol enamel gloss varnish out of a tin to set them. Not perfect, but ok. Well, right up to the part where I give them a coat of acrylic matt varnish anyway, at which point they start to crinkle up..............

Right here is where Mr Swordfish nearly took his first flight !!

After leaving things to settle, it doesn't too bad ( if you squint from a couple of feet away), so I'm going to leave it for now. I don't really want to spend any more money on it buying a generic letter sheet, especially on something I'm unlikely to use the rest of. If I feel brave, I may try and mix up some roundel red and see if I can tidy it up a bit, but it can stay like this for now.

So, up next, the glazing for the windscreen, and to see what that rattle is comming from inside.............

                                Cheers, Neil
