    Cheers Richard, i agree with you about the painting, its going to be a pain but i didn't want to risk damaging the finished article trying to wedge it in and filling once it had been painted. Enjoyed scratching the engine but now i've got to replicate the hinges that let the cowlings open, not looking forward to that.

      Try old single core telephone cable. I use it a lot for detailing as, being single core it is very easily bent into position and it will stay there. If you cut some short sections of it and stick it to the edge of the cover with cyano you might find it looks effective as a raised hinge.

            Thanks Trey, wish i had more time to spend at the bench and get it finished, once i've finished the extension on the house i should have loads of modelling time.
