Hobby Boss 1/48 U.S. F4F-3S Wildcatfish

    Hi All,

    Here is my next build.

Something a little different. (For me anyway).

I'm going to use the Eduard mask & self adhesive photo-etch.

    Vallejo paints supplied by John.

I'm also going to try to paint the insignia when the masks arrive.

I'm staring this as my StuG build has ground to a halt due to needing new decals.

This build will no doubt push my abilities photo-etch etc.

    Thanks for looking.

That is different. Hadn't even heard of the float plane version of the Wildcat. The etch will add a nice bit of detail and the masks will be a very nice touch once mastered. I think you'll find the etch easier than masking the national markings but will look great once finished.

      Cheers

Nice. This is an common variant and it should look pretty good. For photo etch, if there are boxes involved, I highly recommend getting some PE specialist tools. They will make your life a lot easier.

        Cheers, John

A very unusual topic this one in that this type of aircraft in configure is was limited in production in reality so to see a model kit is even rarer. My reference only found 1 proper aircraft was produced but not continued , so I'll be looking in on this one

          Looks a good kit

              Hi All,

I've been busy with the cockpit and the photo etch. Which I've found a little tricky!

I did not manage to get all the tiny bits in, but I've managed most of them.

One thing I have noticed in my pictures is the odd bit lifting which I will sort in the morning.

              Thanks for looking.

                    Hi All,

I've not been able to get much done.

Here are some phone pics to show where I'm at. Hopefully get a little more time at the bench soon so I can get on with the painting.

Very very nice job on the pit. Eduard etch really does lift models into a different league
