Best to apply decals to a gloss surface Phil to help prevent silvering from tiny air pockets trapped underneath the decal.

Hi all hope this finds everyone well, just thought I would give a quick update all the decals are now on (more than what I initially thought) and I can confirm it was the most boring part of the build, I don't remember that as a kid but it has been worth it.

Weathering should be finished this week and I'll try and get some decent shots for you guys.

Sorry for the upside down shots again.

          Cheers.

I've just read your thread from start to end - an enjoyable thread to read. It looks like you've got the hang of this modelling thing. I don't mind decals, although they can take days to do (a few at a time) for me, it's masking canopies I find a bit of a chore.

Thanks for that Colin, I totally agree the decals are time consuming the canopy is what I have had most problems with. Trying to get the tape of without paint peel felt almost impossible and is something I need more practice with!

                Cheers

So for the last couple of nights I have had my first attempt of weathering after reading some techniques and watching some online videos and I got to the point tonight after immense frustration where I had two choices:

Call it time and admit this is my first time and take it as a learning curve

Smash the plane up and and call the men in white coats

I opted for the first option after much deliberation so expect some dodgy looking plane pictures in the next couple of days, it just feel so frustrated that at points I felt good about the build and now i feel it's ruined.

If anyone has any weathering tutorials that they can point me to or any advice on products it would be much appreciated, I used chalk pastel distilled water and acrylic wash this time.

I sealed my decals with klear before giving it a Matt Vallejo finish before the weathering and to be honest I wish I would have just left it at the klear as I feel the weathering would maybe have gone better.

Sorry for the rant just had to vent!

                  Cheers

                  Phil
