So I take it Revell are sending you a new set Adrian ?
I emailed them asking how I could get another set, got a reply back saying I hadn't included any postal details ( I was just enquiring so hadn't put address ), so I sent the email again with the address, so fingers crossed
I must say in the past they have been very good to me, I had a new set for my GT500 Mustang and they even sent me a set for a 50p Queen Mary kit I picked up.
Revell kindly sent me a new decal sheet out, took 2 1/2 weeks but it was free, sadly it was the small sheet only and I still need the larger sheet but they have sent a letter apologising and saying the other sheet will be sent out as well.
I know it's a long wait but I have plenty to build in the mean time and it will mean I have 2 Phantoms coming off the assembly line in short order
Right this was my 3rd attempt at doing the decals on this build, I was so happy they all went down perfectly and so 24 hours later I did a test by putting spare decals on a pop bottle letting those dry then testing Tamiya's Semi Gloss clear on one side and Halfords Clear lacquer on the other side on a separate decal. Both turned out fine so I opted to go with the Halfords.
I sprayed a fine mist coat on and everything was fine, 12 hours later I sprayed a 2nd coat and all hell broke loose, the one wing bubbled like it was boiling and is completely ruined again.
I can't send for any more decals as the model is now OOP and Revell won't ship replacement decals now.
My options are; try to lightly rub back the effected side and place the decals over the top, I have this side spare from my previous two attempts or completely strip the whole thing back and start over with a new set of decals of a 2nd same kit I have bought?
If I do strip the whole thing any recommendations as it's such a huge kit to soak
After been overwhelmed with help and suggestions on how to fix the issues with the gloss varnish I decided to try and cut it back with some 3600 micromesh cloth, this worked really well and with only a few little sections to paint in I'm now back on track and looking to get the underside decals in place over the next few days.
