Looks great so far.
I built the Hobby Boss R14 version and have to say that kit is what convinced me that aircraft kits could be pleasant to build. up to that point I had despised aircraft kits due to past experiences and intended never to build them again. Then this one came along... total redemption!
Looking forward to seeing this one completed.Comment

Thanks for your positive comments!
Managed to get the first layer of colour on. I normally paint all my models with Tamiya acrylics but for the first time I've used Mr Hobby acrylics and I have to say that I'm impressed! I've used their RLM76 Light Blue and managed to get a nicely [in my opinion] shaded finish which is the beauty of using a black base coat. I've also highlighted this a little bit with the RLM76 mixed with white.
Incidentally, I've always used Klear as a gloss coat but I've often struggled to get a decent finish on a consistent basis. This time I tried mixing Klear with Ultimate Airbrush Thinner and found it gave a much better finish - sprayed better and dried slightly glossier. Win win!

Snail's pace progress...
I'm tackling the camo/mottling slowly because I'm not really sure what I'm doing. Not got much experience doing this sort of scheme!

Most of the camo is now complete. I've still got to spray the patches of RLM82 on the fuselage sides where the crosses go along with the red/yellow bands. There's also bit of tidying up to do to get rid of some overspray and to hide some dodgy airbrushing on the tail!

That's looking really nice Matt, your build speed is about the same as mine mate seems ages since you started this but I'm now watching the thread and looking forward to the end result.
I'm not sure if you've planned it already and are adding it later but the doras (and I'm sure the ta152 had them aswell) had a flap of metal along the exhaust just below the supercharger intake just to deflect crap/fumes etc going into the supercharger, I'm doing a D9 at the moment and will be scratching mine out of a bit of brass sheet probably.
Cheers

Thanks for the comments both!
Phil - thanks for the info, don't think I'll be adding this now for the simple reason that the supercharger has been permanently attached and there's not much room for manoeuvre.
I've finished spraying the RLM82 on the sides and tidied up the overspray so hopefully can get a coat of Klear down today in readiness for decals.
I've had very little motivation for ages and have actually done loads yesterday and Friday!Comment

That looks good so far Matt. I quite like the slightly patchy look of the paint, it gives a faded feel which might be in keeping with a late-war aircraft.Comment
