Phil's Hobbyboss 1/48 Martlet MK VI

    Hi all,

So while I'm waiting for my me262 canopy to turn up from dragon (sometime before I die I hope), I've decided to start work on turning hobbyboss' 1/48 wildcat FM2 into a Martlet MK VI.

It's a nicely detailed kit with a reasonably small amount of parts so should be a decent turnaround (for me anyway).

It will be straight from the box apart from some very nice looking euro decals that I had to purchase to make the conversion a resin seat from a second hand parts missing sword kit that I picked up for £5 and some bits from eduards self adhesive zoom PE.

So here are a few shots of what I have done so far, 1st time with self adhesive eduard PE and I have found it really good actually, definitely easier than super gluing the normal PE.

A little bit of weathering may be added to the office but I don't think it's gonna be the most visible of cockpits so probably won't go too mad.

    All comments welcome as usual

    Cheers

    Phil

I'm impressed that's looking a very tiny office and the colours are very good, like the detail on the radio set etc and the seat harnesses are a treat

        Looking good

        I'm in on this

Little update on this one, did some weathering and this time I am trying a few different mediums and methods as most of this won't be seen so thought it was a good chance to practice, so some of it may look a little heavy.

Added some wiring to the engine along with a placard from the eduard zoom pe.

Should have the fuselage going together soon.

Comments and criticism welcome as always.

            Cheers

Quick update first colour down and tacked and taped for second colour. As per usual the pre shade has not really been effective with the dark sea grey colour so might have to try a little post shading on this one

                      Cheers

So I've had a play around with some colours and the green was a mix of a couple of greens, I'm quite happy with the match compared to photos I have seen and what was described on the euro decal sheet. A little post shading klear sprayed and decals applied, the only decal that I had trouble settling was the Royal Navy ones, think it's just down to size and location.

The euro decals looked nice on first appearance and the colours are good but a couple of them do seem quite thick, the microlight sol and set are working well though.

Canopy next and I've just had my first play with bare metal and I'm sure this product is going to be a absolute dream to work with and a life saver!

                          Cheers

Looks great Phil. Your extra dark sea grey and dark slate grey camouflage colours look spot on to me.

Cheers, the dark slate grey definitely has a solid green hue so I used black green along with another green which I can't think of right now and dark grey
