    1:48 Hawker Huricane MK1

    Hello all

    Just Joined the site....

After 40 years away from model making I had to look for a hobby to replace natural history photography thus the name PhotoPhil I decided to re-kindle my model making days whilst a teenager.

So I purchased the 1:48 scale Hurricane any thing else smaller I can't put together as I suffer handshaking problems....

How far have I got with the model? the wings and main fuselage is ready to be put together and then to be primed, hoping to get an airbrush and compressor in the next two weeks...

Still waiting to be made is a 1:48 Spitfire MK1, 1:48 Messerschmidt Bf 109E/E-1 and a 1:48 De Havilland Mosquito PR.XV1

My friend shave purchased all these kits so I have been very lucky...god know where I will put them all when they are finished...

    Welcome, but one important thing!

PICS, we must see pics, or the anticipation is harmful to some of the more elderly users of this forum.

Sorry to hear of your shakes, I'm sure it can be a pain in many things, so to persevere with modelling, the. I salute you!

Look forward to seeing some of your builds!

Nice selection of kits you have lined up. And I agree, photos would be great.

            Hi Phil

Welcome to the forum, it really is a great place if you enjoy the hobby. I joint earlier in the year after not putting a kit together since I was a little kid so I had to start from scratch!

1:48 aircraft is what I really enjoy also so I will look forward to some of your builds.

You'll get loads of advice and help on here if you need it.

            Cheers

            Phil

An airbrush and compressor are a worthwhile purchase, you will never look back once you've got the hang of it, just as you will never look back joining this forum, there is some great info on here about airbrushes etc and also a plethora of information about almost anything modelling related by very kind and knowledgeable people of all ages and experience.

                Welcome once again.

                  Hi all

Just had fun with the Nikon and here are the photographs of the Hurricane before assembling the wings onto the fuselage, this is my first model after a 40 year break away from building scale aircraft.

I has home problems getting the top half of the wings to fit and I had to cut some plastic off to make the joint a nice fit as I didn't want to use any filler. I have also photographed the boxes of the models I have awaiting to be made I was looking to build the Lancaster Bomber BUT this cost nearly £100

On the advice of other model makers who use airbrushes I am going to use acrylics I have used enamel on the build of the Hurricane this was applied by small brush to bring out the details of the small parts...

Good work Phil, as I said I had to start again and never used a airbrush before.

Trust me it will change your life!

I use Vallejo model air acrylics as do a lot of the other guys, but I have recently been using tamiya acrylics aswell, once they are thinned they also go through a airbrush very nicely

                      Regards

                      Phil

I'm looking forward to using an air brush as back in the day brushes were hard work, I have heard of Vallejo acrylics so much so I am going to prime the Hurricane with their 74.601 Grey Primer,I brought 200ml from e-models....
