Ade's Supermarine Spitfire LF Mk Vb

I fancied another Spitfire so dug this out from the back of my stash, I was tempted to do the night fighter one to go along side my night fighter Mosquito I did a few years back but in the end thought the Air Sea rescue one looked nicer

Apologies for the rapid build, but with work been slow I have had 12 hours a day spare and honestly forgot to take pictures.

The build is great with no flash and very little adjustments needed once the main parts are glued together.

Most likely it will be completed by the end of the weekend so I'll post more pictures later

    Comments welcomed as always

Blimey Ade you've only just put the bus down ain't ya, love your effort mate!

This is looking really good by the way, colours look great.

I wish I bought two of the eduard mk IXc's on the cheap when I had the chance, it was such a lovely kit looking back now. Fancy another spit myself! Typhoon next will have to do!

Yeah work was slack and now quit as there weren't enough parcels, so more time at the bench each day

Looks nice. Too late now I know, but I don't think I've seen a night fighter Spitfire built before.

Do Spifires have aerial wires? Radio wires or whatever you call them

None of the Airfix instructions show them, I've not put any on the other few I have built but someone just pulled me up on them else where so got me wondering.

Yes and no From mid-war most Spitfires did not need the aerial wire from the mast to the rudder as VHF vs HF did not require them. Late versions had a simple whip aerial instead of a mast.

Thanks Joe, this is my 4th Spitfire and only one showed the aerial so had me doubting myself
