Another very nice kit grom Hasa, the detail and dryfit seems very nice....however the bangseat was a huge letdown. There is no belt detail or anything like that, not even the prominent red armrests.


I added them from balsa, aswell as the seat pan padding and made belts from lead foil.


The Instrument pannel is the supplied decal, I just added drops of future in the bezelfaces to look like glass.

I use tamiya gloss black enamel as my alclad base, I also shoot on a coat if neat turpentine over the whole thing to smooth out the paint and save me from having to sand it.

Nice work so far Theuns. Lots of Sabres coming out of the woodwork. Not heard of shooting turpentine over enamels to smooth it, guessing you'd have to be rather careful with that mixture?

The turps trick is just something I have tried because I didn't want to sand the model smooth, it rarely works out well.


It is very hot here lately when I sprayed so I flood the turps on and then keep rotating the model so it can flow out nicely. It just takes out the rough texture, it does not really thin the paint all the way down to the plastic.

Here it is in 3 coats of airframe allu. I usually at this stage mask off the panels I want to look a little darker and shoot more alclad to make the rest lighter.....I now have 2 ways to go with this model










1. the decals are for a nice 1960's plane in the normal "used" NMF


2. I have a pic of the same plane as a super pollished airshow plane, where basically only the gun panel and exhaust looks a little darker, the rest of the metal looks uniform due to the pollishing.
