    1/72 RAF Harrier GR Mk.3

Hello, this is my latest build, This one for the British Group Build. It's an event organized by local hobby group which only allow British-made subjects to join, such as Military, Automobiles and scifi stuffs.

My entry will be this Hasegawa 1/72 RAF Harrier GR Mk.3, the one and only British-related aircraft which I have in my stash. Will be an OOB build with RAF Norway camo which featuring White and Dark Sea Grey camo (Gunze 331)

Not sure about the diorama yet but definitely will make one. This kit is a highly detailed with injection-molded grey plastic parts, a detailed cockpit with instrument panel and pilot, realistic landing gear and two waterslide decal marking options.

    1) RAFG No.4 SPN

    2) RAFG No.3 SPN

Let's see how it turns out.

    A, B & C. I keep the clear part somewhere safe.

The Rolls-Royce Pegasus 103 turbofan, much better than then one from Tamiya 1/72 Warbird series' AV-8B.

This will be the camo for this Harrier GR Mk.3 : Norway camo with White & Dark Sea Grey.

Dry-fitting with masking tapes. It's slightly smaller than AV-8B Harrier II but still sexy as Marilyn.

Ejection seat, Aden 30mm Gun pod, MATRA LR-155 Rocket Launcher, 1,000 lb bomb & BL 755 Cluster bomb.

    Ballast, ceramic blocks.

Vertical flight puffer jets & Nimonic fuselage heat shield. Gun metal with a little bit of Burnt Iron on it.

Engine compressor / Fan face of Harrier's Pegasus engine. Gun Metal + Burnt Iron.

Canopy masking for modern aircrafts are actually easier than WW2 aircrafts.

You'll feel the pain when you masking the canopy of A6M Zero or some other Japanese WW2 aircrafts.

    That's all for this weekend.

    Cheers!

      Some update @ 29 February.

Primed by Mr.Finishing surfacer 1500. I wanted to paint the aircraft but at this point I'm too lazy after work.

      Diorama planning: Brotherhood of Harrier.

The right one was build at January, that's an US AV-8B Harrier II which is the same bloodline with British GR Mk.3 Harrier. Decided to make airfield vignette for the GR Mk.3 with some ground crews.

Hello, a little update of painting job.

            Done Modo DX-01 PureWhite.

Weapons painted. Nozzles painted. Heat sink painted.

MATRA LR-155, 1,000 lbs bombs and BL755 cluster bomb. Decals application done.

Step 1: I use pencil to draw some thin lines to indicate where the blu-tack should be and then cover the lines with tonnes of blu-tack, this is how it looks like.

Trust me, It's a process which you'll burn your brain.

Step 2: I use masking tapes with different width to cover the sections where the color should retain.

Finally, Gunze 331 Dark SeaGray BS381C/638 applied.

Begin decal application, I use RAFG No.4 SPN Marking.

A little bit customization: "ä¿¡" which mean Trust in Chinese.

            IN GOD IN TRUST.

            Thanks for viewing, cheers!

Done paint chipping on the Harrier.

Panel washing with Black panel line accent color:

Done panel washing and weathering, with some washes. Semi-gloss coated, 90% done of this Harrier so it's time for diorama making.

RAFG No.4 SPN NATO Winter exercise Harrier GR Mk.3 with USN VF-84 Jolly Rogers AV-8B Harrier II (my previous work)

                          Cheers!
