Yes Ian it's one that I should have pick up a while ago. To a degree I was thinking how the hell was I going to fit it in my spray-booth and then display it but I'm really to looking forward to the finished model. I've been a little impatient and have made a start on out lining the splinter camo I think the paint is dry enough and as Ian M suggested I need to cut some shapes in paper to save on the tape

Or maybe some super cheap 2" wide masking tape from a DIY store or Halfords cut to shape. Stick it to your trousers a few times to reduce the tack of the adhesive.

I spent a day masking ready to spray the splinter camo and then over the last two days I have been spraying RLM 70. All's looking good with only a few areas that needing touching up and some over spray to sort out too. Next will a coat of Klear and then onto the decals.

A very impressive build Vaughan, I have the He111 in the cupboard and it's where to put it that's keeping it there.

Thanks Mick, I know exactly how you feel I also have the He111. The Ju88 isn't that much smaller I'm thinking it's going to be vertically wall mounted not worked out the logistics yet but I think that's the only way as my man cave isn't that big.

Very neat masking and airbrushing Vaughan. Nice and big surface to spray on. :thumb2:

                Cheers,
                Richard

I have spent the last few days Klear coating and laying down the decals which there are great number of. I gave up trying to used the supplied decals for the no step areas as it was impossible to slide them off the decal sheet in a straight line and then position them. So I opted to mask them instead which was a fiddle but worth it. I have applied a further Klear coat and then it's a clay wash and then a final matt coat. Dangly bits still to add but I'm almost there.

Great work Vaughan. The masked โ€˜no walkโ€™ area was definitely the way to go. I did much the same thing on my 1/32 Mk1 Spits.
The Ju88 is looking fantastic and Iโ€™m looking forward to seeing the finished thing.
                    All the best
                    P

Vaughan, you sir have the patience of a Saint.
Great masking skills. I'd probably balls it up just unrolling the tape!

                        Nice paintjob, especially the masking.
I'm surprised none of the modelling suppliers seem to have lining tape, like that used by 1:1 customisers - it's a strip of masking tape with a removable strip in the middle, so you stick the whole thing down then remove the central strip, leaving a narrow unmasked line. The narrowest I've seen is 1/8 inch though.

The finest I've seen is 3M Fine Line Striping Tape (06314) which can produce multiple 1/16" wide parallel stripes. Might still be too big for model use though.

That's an excellent bit of freehand masking though Vaughan.
