Curtis Hawk 81-A2 Tail Question ?

Hi everyone

I'm currently working on the Airfix Curtis Hawk 81-A2 and I'm not sure about the two gaps in the tail which I've highlighted in red in the picture.

What do you think, should I fill them in?

The gap is intentional and required:

A P-40B (Hawk 81-A2)

A later P-40E
[ATTACH]279685[/ATTACH]
A later P-40L tail, but the gaps are there to see
