1/48 Zoukei Mura Tank Ta 152H-1 Hohenjager

Decided to save a JV 44 Dora for the GB at the end of the year, and wanted to tackle a Ta 152 and a Zoukei Mura kit this holidays.
Anyways, if I want to build one for the GB, I can always get another!
This kit is crammed with plastic, the most I have ever seen for a single engined fighter in 1/48.
I will be using an eduard Zoom set for the interior, but I will be experimenting with lots of new techniques and painting techniques, and as a result, not a lot of it will be used apart from the main dash and the seatbelts, as the ZM dashboard is quite clunky.
    Cheers, John

first of the sprues. The detail is looking good, probably the best I have seen in 48' scale. Construction pics coming soon.
That's the Jumo 213 in the top left hand side. I think I'll not detail it much as it already has been detailed so well. For the sharp eyed of you, there is also a nice Mk 108, even though you can't see it in the end. The supercharger sports some very crisp detail as well. Also, for the knowledgable aircraft brains out there, you can see the spark plug loom at the bottom of the pic towards the left. But overall, very, very nice detail all round. THe plastic itself is responding well to sanding, and seems to not be brittle (hasegawa plastic!) and not too soft like some revell kits I have encountered.

If this goes well, I will be consider to buy the 1/32 kit. The ZM kits look to be very well engineered.

Ok, here is the first instalment. I have decided I will do open fuselage panel, root wing gun panels and engine cowlings. The rest will be shut. Despite this, I am doing a full interior paint job. Pointless, some might say, but I enjoy it. I am starting with the wing structure. It is highly detailed, utilising slide moulding for the ribbing of the wings. This has created a very sturdy wing, as it is not hollow, but actually has structure inside.
I have replaced the wing gun barrels with albion alloys tubing. Not only does that stop me from breaking the barrels when I am handling it, it also is convenient, as I don't have to drill them out.
The wing structure was surprisingly easy to align in the wing. So far, so good.

Wing skins on now. Fit was mostly flawless. I am very happy with the way things are going and the engineering is incredible, and very tight (unlike trumpeter, although I like their 1/32 kits). A touch of filler and sanding here and there, and I will achieve a smooth finish. You can still see the MG feeds and the barrels, along with the engine mounting points. Btw, the wing skin was three piece per wing, and not one skin, which is why I am so impressed by the neat fit.
              Cheers, John

Now I am on to drilling out the exhausts.....
                Such fun.....

Also, this turned up from Hobbylink Japan (my area’s version of hannants). For my 1/32 ZM He 219 Uhu. That will be a very fun build when I do it eventually.

Next instalment. The engine is a brilliant piece of engineering. For an OOB engine, it has shaped up really well. All I have done is added some lead wiring. The undercarriage has also been mostly finished with placards painted on, apart from the actual wheel hub’s hydraulic piping. I did some detail painting extensively on the fuselage radio, with placards. I will be taking a pause on this build as I wait for my eduard detail set for the pit as it is coming from the UK. If you have any constructive criticism, please comment.
Note, it seems some of my metalizer paint has chipped off, which has now been fixed.
                  Cheers, John

Thanks mate. Taking a rest from this build for a week though as a heatwave is hitting my area, bringing the temp up to 43C!
                      Cheers

Bought several accessory sets for the Interior. Looks like this will have to stall for a while.
