    Trumpeter 1:32 Grumman Avenger TBF-1C

Making a start on this one, first build on this forum. A lot in the box, including PE, although instructions need careful studying. Options with this of everything open or shut, various payloads, folding wings etc, so a few decisions to make. More soon, cheers, Alun

    Hi Alun
Nice to start a new build in your new home. I know as I have just begun my 1/48 Spitfire.
Looks a great kit and being 1/32 should have a load of nice detail. The decisions of the build will have to be made early on I should think especially as the instructions need a bit of thinking about.

      Alun,
nice choice, I remember making the Accurate Miniatures 1/48 Avenger, and being surprised about how big it was - this must be huge! Stowed wings look great on these, due to the strange way they fold ( and it saves space ) - and this is where pre-cut canopy masking really comes into its own

        I Alun,

As you know I am not a wingy person but this aircraft is the one that would tempt me to the dark side. I have always liked this plane, so chair will be pulled up and I will be following closely.

Hi Alun, looking forward to seeing this build up. Check your parts, I remember someone here did one and the turret was missing.

Hi Joe, Thanks for looking in, turret there, have just masked it while waiting for paint to dry, nothing missing ...yet!

Very cool choice. I've become a big fan of Grumman. What detail that kit must have. Enjoy!

                Morning all, thanks for comments.
Making progress, engine detail is quite good, but time consuming.
                Photos and instructions shown:-

A few touch-ups to finish off, but more or less there.
Starting on the 'office' cabin, bomb bay, which is all in one.
                Cheers

                  Hi Alan
I like these so will follow this if I may. I have a 1/48 version in the stash, bought after I saw a real one at Yeovilton. They are huge for a single engined plane...I may have a couple of pictures if you are interested, including the wingfold.
Nice start on the engine by the way....
                  Cheers
                  Tim

Good looking engine. I suspect the rest of the build will be just as good.

                      Hi gents, thanks for comments.
Colin, certainly a large number of parts, and lots of detail in the moulds, I am enjoying this one. Have found some interesting history in researching, so will put that up in the next few days.
Tim, thanks, any photos then feel free to put them on.
                      Cheers

                        Hi Alun
I’ll hunt the pics out tonight for you. Sorry for getting your name wrong, by the way, autocorrect has a lot to answer for...
                        Cheers

                          Hi Alun

This is a great kit, fit is generally very good but be careful of the wing folds as they are not very strong and if you are displaying the wings down I suggest using plastic card rather than kit parts to make a strong join. With mine though the kit lacked the turret and despite following the set procedure I never did manage to secure one and hence it was never finished. Check the parts first is my advice. Trumpy are not very good at resolving such issues.

I have another in my stash though........

I will watch your build with great interest.

                              Morning All
                              A quick update:-
Working on the 'office' and bomb bay, which includes all the electrical boxes, instrument panel is dry fitted. Seats and controls to be completed.

Will start on the fuselage halves, rear turret and all internal parts to enable halves to be joined up.
                              Thanks for looking in
                              Cheers
