Thanks guys for the kind comments...now for more...
Thin wire braces were added to both the access doors. Dark wash was applied, gloss varnish and decals and a coating of matt varnish proceeded.

The varnish didn't totally matt the surface but gave it a satin feel which I liked. Care was taken to mask the canopy when varnishing.

Thanks Paul,
If I'm not mistaken Italeri has given the markings for one of the aircraft involved with Operation Deadstick which I have applied. The Horsa is one of the iconic planes I associate with D-Day along with the stripes. And it has nice lines.

Hi Richard
Lovely work. Your masking is always so neat and well planned and it works :smiling2: Canopy has worked a treat. Preshade looks good. To keep a preshade does need a delicate touch on the airbrush trigger - something I still need to master!

I know what you mean. Such a large 'vehicle' basically a throw away item, used only once. And of course, only one chance to get it right, there's no 'going around' again. So, an interesting subject, nice to see it being tackled here.Comment

Thanks Jim, Mick, Paul, Fernando, Colin and Steve,
Jim & Mick, I have to discipline myself between armour, figures and aircraft regarding finishes. I have worked closely with other aircraft modelers to see how clean they approach painting their kits. I guess that helps.
Paul, I have a Waco too and yes it does look ugly like a sperm whale.
Fernando, glad you like the paintwork.
Colin, I'm intrigued by the fact they were willing to ride something built with matchsticks literally on impact to the ground...all respect to that generation.
Steve, wait till you see what I'd added for markings...
Now these brave men were going to have the ride of their lives and they must have had a great relationship and trust with their ship that they showed it with the grafitti written with chalk before departure.

I used Tippex correction paper strips and wrote with a sharp 2H pencil to get the stenciling. Anything that didn't stuck on was touched up with white paint.
Ok it's finished except for some antennae rigging. I enjoyed building this and am sad that I have not seen many built. I hear the Bronco 1/35 kit is popular but the price tag has scared me off. Maybe one day just for a section of a dio perhaps.
Cheers,
