Vintage 1/72 Revell 1965 Bell P-39 Airacobra

Here’s another golden oldie I plan on building and make a small dio for it I’m using some figures out the old MPC airfield kit The kit did not come with a canopy I will be using a squadron aftermarket one. I’ve had this kit for over 10 years I will be adding an aftermarket cockpit, propeller and wheels hope you guys come along for the ride

Hi Lee
Interested in what you make of this one. I built this about fifty years ago....with no finesse and no paint from what I remember...

Lee,
you don't believe in making things easy for yourself, do you? The Revell Airacobra dates back to 1965 - I was in short trousers at junior school!

Hi Lee
I'm looking forward to this. There is something quite fascinating about watching someone overcome the shortcomings of a geriatric kit.

Hi Lee,
An oldie moldy...my kind of build. Winding up my gramaphone and pulling up a chair for this one.

Cheers,
Richard

Nice one Lee and great to incorporate the figs in a little dio.:smiling:
Hope the old kit doesn't give too much troubles and leaves the fun factor intact.

ps. Don't forget to stuff the nose of Airacobra full of lead or fix the wheels to the base unless you want a tail sitter.:upside:

Fernando yes that will be the first order of business I thought of that when I seen the real pictures of this plane I knew this model would more likely be a tail sitter but thanks for the heads up and thanks for stopping by

I got this kit started this morning here’s a up date I’m going to stop here till I can figure out the exhaust I think I’m going to use some aftermarket p51 exhaust outlets on it but have to make sure it all fit and looks right. I will also try to change out the cannon’s for better aftermarket ones. Yes I know I’m spending money on a kit when I could buy one with this kinda detail already but that’s what I like to do is to put the aftermarket stuff on and see if the old kit will come alive. Enjoy the pics
