Although I’ve built a handfull of planes over the years, I’m yet to produce something I was happy with.
So grabbing the bull by the horns I’ve picked up a few plane kits and will be blogging a couple.

No doubt I’ll need advice and help along the way, so feel free to chirp in with any top tips/advice:smiling4:

This Revell kit gets good reviews and wasn’t expensive. Just over a hundred bits with an average skill level rating so hopefully should be able to make a reasonable job of it.....famous last words:flushed:

I started this last night and has gone ok so far. The first steps are the seats and cockpit stuff. I’m using a mixture of Tamiya and Vallejo paints as I don’t own any Revell paints.

No decals for the cockpit so I just did some artistic painting.
Hope to get a bit done this afternoon
    Thanks for looking

          Si,
I'm not a wingy person either so will follow this along to see how you get on. If it follows the great start on the office it should be a great build.

Revell’s “skill rating” is based purely on parts count, as far as I can tell, and says absolutely nothing about how easy or difficult the kit is to assemble.

If it’s a Revell kit that’s moderately recent (read: from the last couple of decades), it will probably go together fine, though you may need to remove some flash.

Unless I’m building a model nostalgia-style, I only use manufacturer’s paint references as guides, not gospel

Looking very good I’d probably have done a dark grey wash and a light grey drybrush before painting the detail, but whether that’s even visible on the finished model is open to debate anyway.[/QUOTE]

Thanks for looking in folks, glad I’ve not done anything horrendous yet:tongue-out:

With the interior dealt with quickly I moved onto the main assembly.
Now I’ll put my hands up, a couple of weeks ago I had a go at building a Ju-88. It started well but I made one or two fundamental alignment errors and it ended up with a visit to the recycling bin:tired:
so I’ve just taped everything together to see how it should all fit before I commit to glue.

Here’s where I’m at now...Click image for larger version

I’m glad I’ve dry fitted everything like this as it needs some clean up to get it together.
Some of the panel lines are misaligned and some bits are ill fitting but nothing some sanding and scraping won’t fix.....hopefully.
                I didn’t realise the wings fold in a out....cool feature✌️

Hi Si, I couldn't help noticing the skill level 3 on the box cover. Are you sure you're up to this level of complexity
:tears-of-joy: ??? LOL! Your cockpit artistry is excellent sir.
                      Cheers, Rick H.

                        Hi Rick,
I though I was pushing it going for a level 3, if it gets too tuff the kids can chip in :smiling5:

                          Hi all,

I’ve been tinkering around with the F14 since the weekend and I’m starting to make some progress. It’s been a bit of a so and so to squeeze together:thinking:

I found the wings where holding off the top and bottom pieces of the fuselage but after much sanding and scraping, I finally managed to get some glue on:smiling4:

Have started the filling and sanding process using Mr Hobby white putty.
I seem to remember my last modern jet build took a fair bit of filler too, also a Revell kit.

I will have to clear out some panel lines that got filled.

Hopefully I’ve not messed anything up yet:upside:
