I undercoated my 1:72 Lightning in gloss black, it did look rather cool in an overall gloss black. I nearly stopped there !

Been there and was in no hurry to return to 1:72 rigging. However, I have the lovely 1:72 Airfix Tiger Moth sitting next to me.

Cheers Joe. For an old kit, it's not too bad.

A bit more, in between all the gardening. Everything is painted and ready for assembly.

Decals, and the unmasking of pilot officer A. fix. I always build bi-planes the same way, decals before final assembly. Imagine dropping the thing an knocking a carefully aligned top wing off.

And, with no real drama, the top wing is fitted. At the moment it's all clamped up on a warm window sill trying to persuade the upper wing just to 'give' a little. I'll release the clamps later. Hopefully a day in the sun has relaxed things a bit.

Thanks Paul. It has certainly opened my eyes up to the older 'classic' kits.

All clamped up. From here I carefully moved the it to the window sill for a gentle bit of heating, just to relax that top wing.

My goodness Colin, this looks like something out of a hospital ICU. Dr. Frankenstein would have loved your clamps.

                Cheers,
                Richard

A labour of love, and well worth it Colin.

As Pete says, right here in the shop. I had heard of them some time ago but only got my hands on them a few days ago. They seem really good. There's no screw thread, they just work on friction alone, but are still very easy to use. These are the 80mm ones.
