Some progress photos
MRP White primer over the black (above). Then insignia white.
I am not doing a full engine build as it will all be hidden
the fit is not great and there is a fair but it sanding and filling to do.
not a lot of colour in the wheel wells. A little bit of silver and black used and weathering will do the rest. Gloss varnish next for wheel wells.Comment

She is coming along Chris, just slow progress, I do get only an hour or so most days at the bench with a business to run and a demanding missues but I did take a few pics last night.
I have cemented the nose clamshell sides around the pit and forward wheel well. No issues
Here is a pic of the main u/c now painted and weathered with a brown wash and some chipping with Uschi metal powder.
I have also painted primer on the main fuselage underside. I had to do a fair bit of sandoing and filling on it and I want to check it over.
As you can see the engines are in place and as you cannot see anything of them I did not bother detailing and painting them.
Unusually for me I will be painting the underside camo colour once I have rectified any flaws, before I cement it to the top. This is because of the engineering and the need to paint some otherwise inaccessable areas behind where the wheel legs will be. The finish will be ruined by future processes and will need repainting, but hopefully not in those inaccessable areas.Comment

A bit more progress. I sprayed the Light Ghost Grey underside and got a rather nice finish. Pity most of it will need to be repainted....
I then glued the u/c assemblies into place along with a couple of other bits and bobs....
Here you can see clearly why I painted the underside...
This is certainly a large model, it must be one of the two or three largest I have built.
With storm Dennis menacing the coast I might get a bit more time than usual at the bench this Sunday unless I am occupied trying to keep our fences upright!!!!!Comment

I have glued the top and bottom fuselage halves together. These are big sections and I decided to position the port half, glue it and when dry do the starboard half. I am now waiting for the starboard side to set solid before cleaning up joins.
The pictures show the cockpit area just dry slotted into place to test fit it. There is a bit of a ridge at the cockpit, rear fuselage join but that Is without testing to see if it cannot be better positioned. I will return to that at a much later stage, still a lot of work to do before I fit the cockpit area. One thing I noticed is how the model sits down on the u/c so there was no need to weight the nose after all..

This is one big model and it is important to plan ahead. So now let’s take an overview of where we are at...
Some wheel well parts in the process of painting and weathering.
some miscellaneous parts removed from the sprue, some painted, some just primed. A lot of pieces there for the canopy.
more painted parts
wing parts which i plan to paint before attaching.
the main airframe. I need to re-prime for a final check of the seams. Also a few more parts to add before I paint the camo.
The cockpit assembly. This will need masking and an overall primer coat for a hopefully final seam check. There are a few more parts to add beforehand though.
I have sorted the sprues for the payload that I will be adding. A targeting pod on one shoulder mount, a Phoenix on the other, a pair of Sidewinders, plus a bomb load on the centre racks. I have looked at a lot of photos and configurations.
This final picture is of the box with the sprues and parts not needed.......I will have to get a new spares box with this lot added....
