1/48 Revel Bristol Beaufighter TF. X

Just opened the box so this will be a future build starting in the next week or so. Large box and full to say the least. Looking forward to this but I thought I'd start the thread as a placeholder. Its a fairly new tooling so the fit will interesting to see. Same one as paintman of course

Doing bits as I wait for paint to cure on my Spitfire but have managed to do the cockpit. Added some etched seat belts from the Tamiya Spitfire kit. I'll probably stop now until Spit is finished

Cockpits looking good Gary. Those additional seat belts look much better than the moulded in ones.

        Thanks

They kind of didn't do anything for me. The etch ones add a bit more. No pilot in the Revel kit but thats OK as it will be closed cockpit.

Not putting too much up on this as Paintguy did one earlier but just to confirm his issue with fitting fuselage to wings I have had the same and a tad more of a problem. Not a good fit at all. But by careful chiseling away and a few taps with a hammer its getting there. Bit of filler on view as you can see.

Some bits do need a bit of persuasion, but anyway, it's starting to look like a Beaufighter now.

One of my favourite fighters. Like many I suspect once things start to be a problem I just take a deep breath, stay calm and actually get some satisfaction out of the challenge. Eventually it gets 'fixed'

Pre decals. used Pledge Floor Gloss for the varnish. It never looks very even but it is and works well. Not going to do much weathering. One thing about this Revel kit was that certain parts, like the engine and wheel suspension etc were way too fiddly and delicate. That in itself is not a problem except when they dont fit well as they then become prone to breaking of delicate parts. I found the overall model to be a bit irritating at times. But decals will go on later and then matt varnish.

With decals. As usual I keep spotting tiny marks but overall it ended up quite good. I'll put an antenna wire using very fine electronic wire, probably 0.2 mm, between antenna and tailClick image for larger version
