So after a fair few months at work I have returned and finally got the fuselage together. Bit disappointed about all the detailing and how little you can see apart from what's right by the pilots seat. Certainly make me think a lot harder about exactly what bits to use and what ones not to next time anyway. Next will be to spray bomb bay black and then whole fuselage white for shading.
I also added clear coat to all dials to give them a glass like appearance which I was pleased with the out come of.

As you say itโ€™s a shame you wonโ€™t see most of the hard work. Almost need a cutaway build.
Looking good anyway. At least you have pictures before glueing it together.

Thanks for all the positovity everyone
Yeah it is a shame but as yet I'm still not sure what to do with it when it's finished due to its size. Looking forward to getting the wings and tail on and see it looking more completed.

So a decent afternoons progress in the shed with heater on full as it has belted it down all afternoon.

Fuselage together, few small bits like turrets and props together and sprayed, under carriage in, bomb bay doors on and tail section in place.

Found some of the instructions are confusing as there are 4 variants, to cut it short A, B, C and D. Bits for each seem mixed between sprues which isn't what I expected and confused me a little and had to have a few reads.

Anyway photos attached. Some not so good glue application but I'd rather it sticks and stays such and cover the sins with filler and paint.

Finally near fixing wings and fitting to fuselage.
Did the undercarriage today, sprayed in flat aluminium and then some black put in onto the main struts. Still needs a bit of oily wash to dull it down and bring out detail a bit.
Also done the base colours of the wheels. I just decided on green hubs as it breaks up all the metal of the undercarriage a bit.
Props are done as are the gun turrets and rear wheel.
Decided that I am going to fit turrets etc after all body is painted.

Also a sun question, has anyone built this and painted with Tamiya paint? I see they do dark flat earth in a spray can but not a pot, wondering whether to mix or get a spray can and decant or even use a different paint all together. Any thoughts or experience?

Nice work James. I agree, some very thin oil will highlight the detail of the undercarriage very nicely.

Well progress has reached a sensible stage to allow for removal of old shed and assembly and outfit of new shed before starting the painting.

I found the engine covers didn't fit as well as I expected them to for a Tamiya kit but all doone and dusted and ready for first primer.

looking good, remember having one of these one christmas as a teenager, didnt last long though - also had a 1/32 Tomcat and the 1/350 Enterprise. All wasted and ended up in the bin. Wish i could afford them now !

So after plenty of time I have jerry rigged a light to enable spraying.

Base undercoat done, certainly took a while, biggest model I have every painted!
Used the spare canopy as a sacrificial part.

Looking good, I was thinking the same thing about using the spare canopy for painting. I wasnโ€™t sure the prepainted would be a good enough match but I did a test sample and it was near perfect colour. I was in decided about front turret though, I see you went for it masked up.

Yeah that was before I realised part of it needs to be black I think.
Just sprayed bottom of black area and varnished, hopefully do the brown tomorrow.
