Cheers Ron. I wouldn't mind seeing your Hawk. I cant imagine hand painting such a large model, it's been bad enough spraying it. It looks better in the picture than it actually is.
Nearly there now. 6 coats of gloss varnish applied. The canopy has had its decals put on. The thin grey stripe above the red was a pain to get on and still needs tidying with some paint. Both front and main canopy sanded down and now a good fit I think. I have gone for the closed canopy option because you still get a nice view into the cockpit area and I think the closed canopy gives a nice sleek feel to the model. Wing lights fitted and need tidying up but apart from that just got the front nose Pitot tube to fit and then we are pretty much done. Next pics will be the completed model. Thanks for looking.
Going to need a tiny bit of filler in the front canopy where it joins the fuzz. Some liquid filler should take care of that. Thanks for looking in.
Thanks Paul, glad you like it. This is the first model I have ever competed in a gloss finish and I have to say it is a pain to work with. In false light it shows every blemish. I have been so tempted at times just to give it a coat of satin but a red arrow just has to shine. Other than that I think Revel did a great job on this kit and would recommend it.

Steve,
Sorry if you were misled a tad, but my effort is the relatively minuscule Airfix 1/72 Red Arrows Hawk.
So full marks to you for painting this big boy in a gloss coat!

Thanks Ron. The red paint is OK but hasn't gone as well as I would like. Through the prime, paint and varnish process I have ended up with hundreds of pin head sized lumps that are not visible to the human eye in natural light but really stand out under bright false light. If the model wasn't so fragile I would get some wet and dry on it and try and smooth it off when properly cured. Any way it is what it is. Just have to use natural light for the final pics
