Revell 1/32 Iron maiden spitfire

Hi well not my usual genre...but seen this and thought i would give it a go.. so far its been ok painted the pilot’s and They look okay unless you zoom in
the cockpit has gone together really well, all but the seating arrangement but from other post that seems to be the case With the seat and the frame work holding it in place, only other disapointing thing is my lack of knowledge on this Iconic aeroplane but i will get there, fuselage joined together perfectly as did the wings in my mind anyway.
and as the kit goes not a lot more to achieve okay that said"......
I do need a few hints and tips painting the fuselage i am waiting for the sky blue to arrive and wondered if you would recomend priming the whole craft first grey would be my choice?
cock pit do i put the glass in and mask it over to paint the top sides or is there a better method of masking it up?

this will be as much as possible an out of box build

Looks a well detailed kit for sure! The pilots face looks like it would be easy to convert into a Predator lol.

Yes, I would recommend priming the whole aircraft first. You can mask any intakes or wheel wells (if you need to) by stuffing them with damp tissue. The canopy hood is a never ending source of debate, whether to paint the model with it fixed or add it later. I do it fixed, because I want to avoid it looking 'stuck on'. I also find it a good way to mask the cockpit and in your case, pilot. You can mask and paint the clear parts separately, but you will have to mask your cockpit (and pilot) some other way. There's no right or wrong way, just personal preference.

You can mask the clear parts with your masking tape and a SHARP blade. I use a new No11 scalpel blade to cut along the lines of the canopy framing. You'll find a good blade will not unduly score the clear parts if you are careful, and you can rock the blade over/around curves.

This is a Spitfire and so has a sliding hood, which almost certainly will not make a paint proof seal when you close it. My trick to ensure that primer and paint does not get into my carefully painted cockpit is to use beads of rolled Blutack to make seals where the hood meets the windscreen and where it overlaps the fixed clear section to the rear. With a bit of fiddling you can keep the Blutack on the inside (almost ).

Perfect thank you for the assistance, i will prime first and see how I get on with the canopy Masking, idid think of tacking it in and popping out later...funny how blue tac has so many uses thanks for the Advice

hi seems only fair to say it's been awhile!!!
with so many other commitments struggled to come back to this model and I have found it a bit daunting as a first aircraft build and not my strong point, so anyway I have managed to stick it all together some bits twice and some bits More !!!
cockpit and eddies were the only detailed parts really, the wings and fuselage went together quite quickly and no real mis-matches lucky really from what I had researched. painting was not fun big areas and even with my new airbrushes really did struggle with the area and the revel paints so ended up mixing them to get the finished article you can see below

decals to do then some weathering not sure how this will work out as it a black art to me but like so many things once you give it a blast it.......

okay enjoy, comments good, bad or critical most welcome this is an iron maiden aces high tribute aircraft not a ww2 replica.
