      Dave

Looking very good so far. That must have taken a lot of patience.

Main rigging finished - the other side was easier, as you knew which wire ran inside ( outside ) of another................

Next job is to clean up the rigging holes - these were slightly countersunk, so that the CA would have a larger area to 'grab', and hopefully, when dry, to just stick above the surface. I should be able to sand/grind/polish the surfaces to a nice finish ready for painting.

Not that bad ( it's been quite at least two years since I did this last ), but the Perfect Plastic Putty is on standby

Work on cleaning up the wings - I removed all the serious bits with a scalpel, then sanded, using a custom made tool - wet & dry CA'd to a piece of aluminium aerofoil section ( can't remember where this came from! )

This has left a few nasty scratches, that a dab of PPP will sort out. You have to be careful handling the D.III, so as not to catch any wires

I'm not impressed about the AK German WWI Red-Brown & Dark Green acrylic paint - it's supposed to be brush, as well as airbrush, but the brush coverage is poor, I'll need several coats to be happy. It leaves streaks, no matter what size/shape of brush I used. It's hardly worth using the airbrush for such a small area - I'd spend more time masking up than actually painting. After I've got the colours solid enough, I'll have to mask up & repaint the radiator, then onto the undercarriage.
It may have seemed logical to build two biplanes/triplanes at the same time, but I won't do it again - you need a simpler model to break concentration! ( and to think I used to do all this with 1/72 biplanes, as well! )

That's looking very nice Dave. Sorry to hear the paints weren't at their most helpful,.

I'm now of the opinion it's better to buy to buy the off the shelf standard colours, for WWI aircraft, rather than the specific era named paints the trouble seems to be just with the specialist colours. I've had no trouble with brush painting the Vallejo Air Pale Blue, just a generic colour, on the underside of the D.III and the Fokker Dr.I
so instead of AK WWI Red-Brown, I'd be better off with Brick Red etc etc.

Undercarriage added - it's a bit fragile and I'll leave it to really dry - I still have to add the axle, which'll give it more strengthClick image for larger version
