Revell AV8B Harrier in 1/144 scale

Hi all heres one I picked up in a charity shop a few years ago for 99p . Its the Revell 1/144 AV8B Harrier , a superb bit of tooling . The kit was complete with decals but is missing the part of the instruction sheet with camo schemes and decal placement on , but i think i can wing it . I’m doing the Spanish ‘ matador ‘ version as these are rarely seen modelled. I started the four part cockpit tonight and am amazed at the detail in such a tiny kit, heres where im at so far .
p.s. look at the size of the control column , i dropped it on the floor and managed to find it again , a miracle !its about the same size as this exclamation mark !

That's some detail for such a small scale. Well done for finding the joystick.

A great start Tony, are you painting the dials, or are they decals :tongue-out3:

Well this tiny little kit just keeps amazing me with the fine detail and great fit . I got the fuselage together and the wing and nose cone on , then it was time for the intakes . As some of you know , the blow in doors on the intakes are only all closed when in flight , at rest the top 3 usually fall open and the bottom ones are closed . The kit depicts them as all closed so it was out with the file and carefully file the doors at an angle to represent them being half open . I slipped a bit on one of them so had to replace the divider with a tiny piece of plastic card ( top one , port side)
Once I had done these they were attached and other bits such as the wing pylons ,underbelly cannons , tail cone and in flight refuelling probe were also added. The canopy is next but its just drying after being dunked in klear ,after having to polish out the sprue attachment points ,this being my only complaint with this kit so far - they were on the front screen which has no frame round the bottom , would have been better put the on the rear sliding section where they could have been attached on the frame.Click image for larger version

                    Looking great Tony.

The detail & fit appears better than the 1/48 Tamiya I've pretty much given up on! :smiling5:

Cheers guys , im really enjoying this , despite having to do everything through the magnifier ! Andy , i know what you mean about the Tamiya sea harrier , I had that one and ended up selling it on ebay - proof that even the exalted Tamiya has a good few old dogs in its catalogue still!

It's looking good. Never done. 1/144 scale, might have to have a go soon as I'm running out of space.

                              Hi Tony
Incredible. These 1/144 scale kits are a real test of skill and patience. That seat is ridiculously tiny. You must have a steady hand even if working under magnification. Can't argue at 99p.
