Pete's tiny Typhoon

Time I did a bit more on this.
The Storm Shadows were first painted according to the Revell instructions, but cam out much to dark, so I looked for some online images, and gave them a coat of RAF Ocean Grey, which seems about right.
Sorry about the poor focus. You can see I followed Chris's suggestion and stuck them on a toothpick so I could paint them all round - I had to open out the mounting holes a bit as they were both too small and too shallow. That wasn't possible on the short range missiles, Sidewinder and AMRAAM, as they are just too small, so I just cut away as many of the attachment points as I could, and left them on the sprue for painting
Before:
And after:
The aircraft has had a coat of Tamiya XF19 Sky Grey, which came out a bit patchy. I'd attached the external fuel tanks before painting and now I think that was a mistake as I can't get the airbrush in there to get an even coat on the underside. Henceforth the patchiness shall be referred to as "modulation".
I still have to attach the undercarriage and bay doors, but I think it might be better to add the decals first and the sticky-out bits later. The decals will be, um, 'interesting' - the Sidewinders for example are only about 20 mm long and less that a millimetre diameter, but they have 4 decals. 6 on the fuel tanks, 8 on each of the Storm Shadows plus two on each pylon... I may be gone some time!

Had a decalling session yesterday but my camera battery was flat.
38 decals on the 2 Storm Shadows:
4 on each of the 2 Sidewinders, and 5 on each of 4 AIM-120B.
Madness!
I was going do some more today, but spent half the day trying to sort out a prescription that the local medical practice thought I didn't need until the 19th of February, then when I complained that I need some tablets (that I've been taking daily for several years) tomorrow, changed the date to the 29th... of February!
Then I received my invitation to visit a mass Covid vaccination centre - not the local one that my wife is going to tomorrow, but any one I chose from a long list, the nearest 10 miles away, the furthest over 70 miles away! Picked a fairly close one, chose a date (Sunday 31st) and a time, confirmed that, then I had to select from a list of dates for the second dose, did that, clicked "Submit", and got a error message stating that one or more of my chosen dates/times was not available, in spite of my selecting from a list of 'available' appointments, and without telling me which needed to be changed! Start again. Select different times. Same result. Start again with different times. Yes, you've guessed it - same error message. Eventually changed the dates as well as the times, and succeeded.
Somehow I didn't feel much like dealing with minute decals after all that. Just 6 on each of two external fuel tanks. Oh. and then the pylons, just 3 on each of two pylons. Then I can start decalling the aircraft... 32 decals each side, 24 on the underside, 25 on the top!
I must be mad.

No one in their right mind would attempt all of those decals..... :tongue-out3:
I struggle with the little ones at 1/48 so hats off to you PeteComment

69 more done today! All the tanks and pylons, underside and top side. Just the sides to do now...
There are 36 "NO STEP" decals! Don't the RAF train the ground crew in where to put their feet? :rolling:
I don't know why I'm bothering , as well as being minute, most of the decals are almost the same colour as the aircraft, so no photos yet.
