Made a start on the instrument panel too , a base of black grey then it was out with the dotting pen to do the instruments with gloss black . A few colours for the switches etc and ill give it a bit more of a tidy up and try and drybrush the dials tomorrow . Click image for larger version

Tony, your instrument panel finish is way better than mine. I totally forgot about the ejection seat height issue. Even the original seat needed thinning at the base. The problem is compounded by the thick plastic of the clear canopy. So I had mine open. Glad you fixed the issue.

Just a little warning...the wing roots need dry fitting to determine the angle of the enhydral. Also be ready for fillers. I decided to glue the top and fill the gap on the underside.

The vertical tail stabiliser also needs a lot of filler at the joint to the fuselage unless you shape a groove to fit the contour of the fuselage.

      Cheers,
      Richard

Thanks richard , a few test fits yesterday revealed exactly these problems , i think i might glue the wing tops first the fit the bottoms after and i think i’ll sand a flat on the fuselage to sort the tail. I’ve already glued the two halves of the tail but when offered up to the fuselage the spine is a little wider, if i had known i would have put a bit of plastic card in between to widen the tail at the base. Cheers tony

Cracking cockpit work Tony, and a very nice fix with the seat.

Seat all painted up now although a test fit shows that hardly any of it is visible!. Click image for larger version

I’m calling the Instrument panel done, its had a drybrush with white to try and highlight the needles on the dials ( not totally succesful) , a touch up and blobs of gloss clear for the glass . Its not eduard but itll be fine . Click image for larger version

Tony, I just took out my kit to have a look at the instrument panel. Yes it's visible so all that work you've done is not wasted.:smiling2: Very good and enough to fool even at close range. :thumb2:

                      Cheers,
                      Richard

Got a bit more done on this last week but been too busy to post anything so heres an update. The problem of the nose weight has been ( hopefully) solved by adding plenty of weight in the form of 3 circular discs of lead cut from an old piece of roofing lead sheet ,sandwiched between the cockpit and the nose intake assembly. The fuselage has now been glued together and the tail fitted . The tail took quite a bit of fettling to get a decent join , the top of the fuselage was round and the underneath of the tail flat , plus I had to widen the front of the tail with a sliver of plastic card so it matched the spine on the fuselage. Another area that needed careful assembly was the nose intake . The location of the central nose cone was very vague , but its essential its bang central so a lot of dry fitting and adjusting went on before final gluing.
A test fit of the elevators shows a lot of work needed here too , the huge gap needs sorting . Click image for larger version

Good work there Tony. Looks like it’s fighting back a bit …but you’ve got it on the ropes.

Not a well fitting kit then :rolling: Looks as if you're sorting it. That seat does look very nice.

Pivot the stabilisers up or down, the gap won’t be obvious then
