It actually makes it worse jakko ! I think just reducing the small fillet on the fuselage and taking a little off the elevator should close it up ok .

Not a bad fit really jim , compared to something like an Amodel kit or any other limited run jobbie . It just needs a bit of thought and a lot of dry fitting and fettling!

Bit more done today , the top wings were attached first to get a decent joint the after the glue had gone off the bottom wings were added . The underside joint needs a bit of a smooth off but in general its decent fit. The exhaust nozzle supplied in the kit is a bit simplified and after looking at photographs of the real thing it was enhanced a bit and now looks a lot more like the actual one . The cockpit area also needs to be sorted before I can glue on the windscreen and temporarily attach the rear canopy . The canvas shroud behind the instrument panel was made using microporous surgical tape which was cut slightly bigger and then wrinkled up a bit and stuck on . 2 coats of khaki and it will be fine. The area behind the seat under the rear canopy has some gubbins there but the kit didnt supply anything so into the spares box and some random bits were stuck on to give a rough impression of this area which is impossible to find a good photo of btw, so its a big dollop of artistic licence! Also missing for the cockpit is the prominent gun camera . This is the thing that looks like a grey saucepan resting on the instrumen panel top and is a feature of most cold war soviet fighters. I used some bits of sprue and rod to make this and it will be fitted before the windscreen is glued on . Click image for larger version

I like the way the pilot has an entrenching tool now for digging an aircraft shelter, and a bayonet for when the weapons have all run out of ammo

I thought it would have lasted a bit longer before someone spotted what it was :tears-of-joy::tears-of-joy: .

I think its ESCI jakko , the only reason I know is that ive only done one 1/35 armour , the sdkfz anti aircraft halftrack so it must have come from that ! Ive since added a pair of braces and a guide rail so it doesnt look as obvious now! :smiling5:

Getting to the stage now where more bits are being added to the airframe . There are 13 scoops/ intakes that have to be stuck on in various places so these were cleaned up and as none of them were hollow ive drilled and ‘scooped’ them out .The weapons pylons have also been fitted and ive been deciding what ordnance its going to have and assembling that.
The range on the Su7 was poor so they were almost never seen without two or more drop tanks , usually on the underfuselage pylons. The other thing seen commonly was the UB16 unguided rocket pod so two of those are going on too . Im leaving the middle pylons empty .The drop tanks had the thickest fins youve ever seen so they were cut off and replaced with plastic card . Click image for larger version

The aforementioned gun camera has been painted and fitted , also ive made a couple of demisting bars from fuse wire and painted and fitted these to the instrument panel shroud . These finish flush with the windscreen back edge and connect to another pair on the rear canopy which i’ll have to make too. Once these were fitted I could get the windscreen glued on and its now setting , held down with a bit of tape. Click image for larger version

I'm liking what I see here. it's got a Gerry Anderson swept look about it. And I think you're getting fussy in your old age, that kit supplied seat looks absolutely, errm, adequate.

The airframe has now been cleaned up and had a misting of Halfords grey primer to show any areas that needed sorting . It was all ok so it just got a quick rub with some very worn 1200 sanding sponge followed by a coat of gloss black . Next up is the silver .
