    Kitty Hawk 1/48 Jaguar GR.1/ GR.3

Or... is it really that bad.
Well the time has come to embark on a detailed build of this kit which has gotten a very bad name as being a pig. Lets see if we can, despite that reputation, make a silk purse.
This has been lurking in the stash since I bought i 2013! where it got parked up after reading some very bad reviews.

    What's in the box:
Well a whole heap of sprues, lets have a very quick look.
A good solid box with a rather nice graphic depicting the subject out playing in the sand.

The sides of the box show the two other options that can be built.

And a GR1 out of 54sqn, and a profile of Sadman... which will be my victim. More on that in a bit.

The sprues are well packed, each 'set' in their own plastic bag.

For the first time ever I have had to wash the parts off. Most where covered in release agent.

Right then I'm off for some lunch!

Nice one Ian, I've wanted to build this one also, but the reviews well and truly put me off it. I'll sit and watch this, then decide if I should get one.

          Hi Ian
Well it looks fine :rolling: Didn't Barry have real trouble with a Kitty Hawk kit?
It will be interesting to see if a silk purse can be made from it.

              Hi Ian
I built this one and it certainly put up a fight at times but with a few extras I'd bought it built into a great looking Jag. My pics are still on here somewhere.

I had this kit and I looks great in the box, after a member at model club told me of his struggle with it that’s exactly where it stayed and was transferred to the “too difficult” pile. I sold it to another club member/gullible fool*.

Took ages to find Ian and will take it down as soon as you've seen it. I had issues with the engine fit and ended up leaving some of the bits you couldn't see in the box, then it closed up ok. It got called lots of names but I couldn't give up on it.

                    I'm in,

Always wanted to have a go at this build, but got scared of the seemingly endless negativity that surrounds it... who knows your build might just make me take the plunge and grab one...

I will put some pictures up tomorrow but I put the bang seat together and some or the tub. Going to need a splash of paint before I put it together though.
