I'm not too sure about the bombs - in some photos they seem to be in the underside colour.

          Just found this….fantastic resource…
The Luftwaffe Resource Center is your online resource that provides technical and historical information on the German Luftwaffe (Air Force) from 1935-1945 so that people can better understand the aerial conflicts of World War II.

Thanks Tim. Dark green seems appropriate, maybe not RLM70 though.

Colours seem appropriate for that period, SC 250/500s mostly Schwarzgrun (RLM 66) with yellow strip markings between the fins if my memory serves me correctly. Occasionally painted 65 but not as a general rule, mostly for smaller ordnance like SC50s.

Interesting Steve. The reference I posted, reputedly from original Luftwaffe handbooks, says the opposite. SC500/250 (centreline bomb) were sky blue and the SC50 (wing bombs) were dark green? Mind you, I made an Italeri Stuka about seven years ago and the bombs on mine were all dark green….so what do I know….
This really does look a great kit though, and Pete is doing a fantastic job on it.

I think I'm going to go with dark green for the smaller bombs on the wings, and sky blue (whatever that is!) for the centreline bomb. All will have yellow stripes between the fins, now I have those decal packs from the Modelkraft show.
I'll probably use Vallejo RLM 65 for the bomb, which should be just a little different to the Hobby Color RLM 65 I'll use for the underside.
Speaking of which, it's nearly masking time:

I rather wish I'd bought a canopy masking set...

Looking really good now Pete. Good idea on the hellblau. Masking set is essential on aircraft I think…..costs a few quid but saves a few hours of tedious work…..

I’ve used one masking set for an aircraft, and found it so fiddly to get the bits in the right places that I prefer putting masking tape all over the canopy, burnishing it into the corners and then cutting out the frame with a sharp knife.

                            Hi Pete

Found this online about bomb colours in connection with a previous build..... Not had a chance to read Tim's link as am at work, so might be a duplicate.

                            Hope it helps.

                            Andrew

Our very own Steve aka Stona Audi sent me this as an example..... This is a genuine WW2 colour photo.... not a modern colourisation....

Thanks Andrew. Evem more confusion! Not helped by the fact that Airfix don't actually state what size the supplied bombs are - I suppose I should measure them. There doesn't seem to be any great consistency between sources as to the size at which the bombs were in the underside colour rather than dark green (or grey, or brown, or something else...).
