    F-14D Super Tomcat (Revell 1:72)

I have just started the Revell 1:72 F-14D Super Tomcat "Last Flight" I have always loved this aircraft (even before Top Gun). Remember making one as a kid and was amazed that it had swing wings.

I am using the colors as shown except for the seatbelts. Kit said sea green mat. Didn't think they would stand out so used Ochre.

The seats and cockpit have been completed. The ejection handles (not on the model) I made using 0.50mm Black craft wire (thanks to my other half who uses it for making small flowers for her card making) shaped round a cocktail stick and painted Yellow and Red matt. The seat and back rest were painted Dark green matt the main part of the seat is painted Anthracite grey matt. Other parts highlighted with red and yellow then dry brushed with Aluminium.

The cockpit was painted Grey matt and the instrument panels flat black. The CRT screens front and back painted patina green and all ather details white, Yellow, green and red. Then dry brushed with Aluminium.

And Here is the completed cockpit.

Well after a few days of not being able to get anything done here is where I am at.

Main body is now complete, Front section and main fuselage are together. I have already painted the wings and given them a couple of coats of klear. A friend said to do this as he had problems while painting. Canopy is masked not attached not sure what final position is going to be yet.

Have a few seams to fill but nothing major.:woohoo:I hate filling and sanding.

                Steve

I've got this kit in my stash so going to keep an eye on the build, looking good so far though.

                            Have fun, John

I'm after some info guys, I have noticed that inside the wheel nacelles that there is some wiring. Any idea on what colour this should be? Or should I just leave it white?

                              Thanks

                              Steve
