    Doppleganger

Hi, as the title says. I've paused my 1/32 Hasegawa Spit for a 1/72 Revell Spit. Commission build and surprisingly quite a detailed kit with interior so I've incorporated some of the detail from the Hase build into this one.
Here's the box and straight into the painting as the sprues are nearly similar to the Hase kit.

The destruction sheet is in full color...looks like most manufacturers are going this route.

The prop has to be assembled first and fitted before the fuselage halves can be mated.

Thanks Geoff, it is quite a nice kit as I have found out...feel like chucking my old Airfix kit. Been keeping that liking the box art.
The decals for the instrument panel actually align with the raised dials and a drop of Mr Softener just git it to settle down. Seatbelt decals can be used directly.
I only added the missing bar between the bulkheads behind the seat frame and the extended seatbelt harness fastened to the rear bulkhead.

      Cheers,
      Richard

This part isn't part of the doppleganger...the base was made with two wooden hexagonal bases from the Japanese pound shop which were an ashtray in marble print and a utility tray in pine wood.

Bottom or top I should say of the utility tray with black over spilled paint.

The marble ashtray was also inverted and glued to the underside of the utility tray. I have spread some filler and sprinkled grass flocking.
        That's it for tonight.

        Cheers,
        Richard aka Wabble

Hi, the center canopy was too thick to slide back and so to get it thinned I decided to vacform it using my home made contraption.
To get it ready I strengthened it with two part putty with masking tape in between.

Later I will blutac it onto my contraption.
Getting a goodnights sleep and looking forward to my roti canai breakfast.

          Cheers,
          Richard

Looks good to me Richard, but quite a step-down in scale though, huh? Nice details on the kit and I really like your base idea for it. Very original use of common objects My friend...

            Prost

Hi, while I doddle on the vacforming, I selected figure parts from Preiser to put together.
They're from the Luftwaffe set and are armless. Have to find suitable arms and build up a Mae West and jacket for the guy sitting on the deckchair.

The chairs come with the box of Preiser figures.
This little scene would be a lull between flights during BOB.

                Cheers,

Thanks Wibble, or is it Wobble? The black art is beginning to take its name seriously as I've gone through a couple of rounds and still can't get a perfect form.

That's a clever use of cheap stuff to make a very presentable base. Looks a nice kit. Cockpit is nice especially for 1/72. I'd be interested to see your vac forming contraption.

I wondered how many engines a doppleganger had, I also thought it would be German. Anyway, that is a serious looking cockpit, very well detailed.
