That's a clever use of cheap stuff to make a very presentable base. Looks a nice kit. Cockpit is nice especially for 1/72. I'd be interested to see your vac forming contraption.

I wondered how many engines a doppleganger had, I also thought it would be German. Anyway, that is a serious looking cockpit, very well detailed.

Ok guys, I just couldn't leave these chaps without arms and the pilot without his Mae west...

All done with Magic sculpt. I even added gloves on the pilots lap.

The vacforming process failed as I couldn't get the heating right. Must have been lucky the first time I did it for my Stirling nose glazing. So I sanded the inside of the canopy and polished it with a commercial rubbing compound and dipped it in Future that got rid of the frost look.
Haven't taken a pic yet...will do this evening as I had to rush for the clubs annual meeting.

Here's the main canopy after sanding of 2/3's of thickness and handled delicately incase it snaps...

Now it slides easily into place like the real thing.

Should have done this instead of trying to vacform it...perhaps I should have trusted my ability to sand and polish having done it before.

I've given the figs a dark prime and zenithel coating before painting. Sculpt seems to blend in.

Breaking out the paints and wet pallette.
