There were 2 thoughts about this after the test...I took it back apart before I broke something and thought the Fusi and the bridge misted color was way too light compared with the wing colors. I realized I should have misted a coat of Desert Yellow on it, instead of the Deck Tan. I have an idea how to tone it down without losing the hex job. T

You are making a truly excellent job of this Allen. It’s going to look superb when you finish it. Really a front and centre of the cabinet job.Comment

Flippin' marvellous work Allen. I think those are the biggest decals I've ever seen. I don't know if this is true for your build, but when I built something similar, I found I had to do the same bit of rigging on both sides together, or else, the model could twist.Comment

Afternoon from the cold and rainy Bamberg Aerodrome...
Thanks so much Ian! Glad you're still looking in Sir...
I really felt masking over the decals, either the wings or the fusi thang, was too dangerous for the decals by this old git. I decide to experiment on the fusi thang and leave the wings as they are because my AB skills are not that great. Hairy sticking was the only option to tone it down. First, I did a test with Vallejo European Mud Wash on the rear underside with a flat brush,
It did tone it down, but the streaking from the brush was a prob and even using water to smooth it out, just left more streaks in it. Time for a second experiment...I have oil paints that I have used a few times with decent results. I dug through them and found I didn't have the color I needed. In the windmills of my mind, I knew I had some Abteilung 502 oils stashed somewhere and finally found them. So, with a dab of 007 Raw Umber and some drops of my Citrus-Terpin, I had at it,
Yea Baby, that was 'lookin' Pretty Good'!!! You can see where I left off as I didn't have anywhere else to hold the fusi thang with my fingers. Using Citrus-Terpin has 2 advantages with oil paint. The model smells good, and the oils dry quickly too. I did touchups and had no bad streaking at all. A dab of Citrus on a Q-tip cleaned any overbrush on the decals. On the bridge piece, there is a little and on the rad is some overflow, but these are easily fixed. The rad will get a black wash anyway. I can even do a second wash if it's not dark enough and to highlight the raised areas. Like Jim R said, another issue solved on my long list of 'em!!!...
I can't thank you all enough for your help and wonderful comments. Have a great weekend and stay safe...
Prost

A cunning solution, Sir! :thumb2:
Hopefully I'll be back to my bench and my models soon as I feel a sort of tickling in my fingertips. Maybe it's withdrawal symptoms?:tongue-out3:Comment
