Sounds like this kit has good and bad points. You've made good progress and in it's sea grey coat it looks great.

The Jaguar has the main camouflage scheme on now. Next up are some black areas and then I'll deal with metallic paints for the exhausts and heat shields.

I've noticed that Jaguars were hardly seen without wing drop tanks. The kits comes with exceedingly average weapons and no tanks. I sourced these from an Italeri Tornado kit, and they are the correct 1,200 litre tanks for the Jaguar. So the load out will be clean except for the tanks. I've had to think about how to fix them to the inner pylons, as they had a slot system for the original kit. I sanded the old paint off them, filled the slots, drilled a hole in each pylon and tank, and inserted a thin pin made from sprue. Should work! Some grey to go on the tanks, but they're looking okay so far in green

Splendid work Joe. Like Tony says, we all love a Jaguar.

The exhaust areas and nozzles are drying and I'm almost ready for some minor paint work and then a gloss varnish. In the meantime here are the tanks with the holes drilled into the pylons. Tight fit, so there won't be any issues with connecting them later. The apparent paint blemishes are fresh touch-ups still drying. Click image for larger version

I need to think about how I will simulate the airbrake 'holes'. Maybe drill dents and fill them with a black wash/paint? Or use black painted decal paper? They were probably the worst parts of the kit with raised detail which I sanded down as they looked absolute pants. The holes are small ovals in shape, as seen here on the original beast:

Drill holes through them at an angle? Tricky to get right, though …

Looks great so far Joe :thumb2:

Can’t really think of an elegant solution for the air brakes.

Maybe try the decal option first as that would be the easiest to reverse if it doesn’t look right

                      Geoff.

Thanks Jakko, I think holes would have been better but I should have drilled before fitting them to the airframe...

Pull the bristles from an old paintbrush, crush the ferrule slightly to make it oval, then heat it enough to melt plastic and use it as a punch to make the holes?

Wraparound camouflage is tricky to get right, especially on 1/72 subjects - well done.
I’d drill the airbrake lightening holes.
On the bench: Airfix 1/48 Sea King HC4, Revell 1/24 Trabant.
Coming soon: Airfix 1/72 Phantom FGR2.
Just finished: Airfix 1/48 Stuka & Airfix 1/72 Sea King HC4.

                              That was my first thought.

In my youf!!!! I used to have a kilt pin for this type of thing!! (I used it to represent holes from incoming rounds). Heat up the kilt pin and poke it through the plastic!!! It would have been my second option after writing off drilling!!
