ID:	1197443I think I need a final coat just to get full opacity . I might add a touch of white to the last orange coat , firstly to give it a bit more body and secondly as the orange paint tended to fade to a paler colour with exposure to sunlight .

In that case, I think I would spray only the top with a lightened paint but use the full-strength one on the underside. Not that most would spot this difference, but it’s one of those “I know it’s there …” things

Its now had a third and final coat , this time mixed with a bit of yellow and white to give it a bit more body and tone it down a bit . As jakko said I tried to go easy on the underside to simulate the fading effect of the sun . I also finished assembling the main body of the tractor and got some paint on it . The white surround is way out of register making them look like googly eyes ! This is why some makers supply the middle spot of RAF roundels separately , the multiple printing of different colours can sometimes result in misalignment. Should be easy enough to make masks right ? No , as it happens my compass cutter only goes down to 10 mm diameter circles and the red part of the fuselage hinomaru is 8mm. So its mask and paint the white and either use a punch cutter to get the red bit of the decal , or use the punch cutter to make masks for the red bits . Either way here it is getting masked up for the white circles.Click image for larger version

That's come a long way Tony. Love the orange! Roundels were bad! Never realised that's why the middles came separately.

Got the white sprayed a few days ago so today time for the red bits . I planned to use decal for the red , punching it out of spare decals with an 8 mm hollow punch. This didnt go to plan as the edges of the punched circles were a bit rough plus the decals broke up on getting wet. So , plan B - mask up and spray the red . I used the hollow punch again , punching out 8 mm holes in Kabuki tape , stuck onto some shiny label backing paper.Click image for larger version

It was tricky to get the bang central but it worked out fine , except for the starboard stabiliser becoming a casualty. This has now been stuck back on and ive started with the rest of the decals. Ive got the matt black areas on the nose and behind the canopy to do next Click image for larger version

Great save on the red bits. I can well imagine that lining them up wasn't easy
