You've been awarded the Brass Cajones for taking on this difficult project. The Cajones Award was from my remote support days. The award was prominently displayed on top of the recipients monitor along with an official looking certificate explaining the actions taken. The Brass Cajones was the highest award. Below in the plastic box are the Beaver Cajones ( for weasel or whimpie behavior) & the empty hanger for the dreaded No Cajones.

                Thank You all Gentlemen,

I will answer you all with an update later on today. I am trying to sort things out and relax a little. I will only say that I didn't win anything at all in the comps, but my 3 friends did, including 2 bronze medals.....

Late evening from the Mole and after the big weekend folks,

Still suffering a bit from the lack of sleep over the last 5 days, but as I said earlier, I want to update the happenings,

Thanks too John!!! I went with a linen color overall, but I forgot to lighten it with some white mixed in. I think they came about the right shade. White, as a base, would have been too bright, like you said...

No probs Andrew!!! Thank you for keeping up and you are doing better at it, than I am, my friend. There is never a need to apologize either. I know you have been very busy with the washing machine running non-stop lately...

I really hope so my friend. The Lingen show in March comes quicker than one thinks...

Anyway, I worked like hell for the past 2 weeks, but in the windmills of my mind, I knew I couldn't complete the whole project in time. A bit of progress before we went to the show on Friday,

the self-made Cabane Struts were added with the hope they were the right length and the top wing would sit on them properly. I tried to measure them the best I could. I nipped the wing struts off the sprue, cleaned them up and, had them at the ready for judgement day with the fit,

Surprised the hell outta me as the struts all lined p and the top wing sat fine. I CA'd the 2 wing struts to the bottom wing and then the 2 other ones. I gently and carefully flipped the bird over and repeated the same exercise on the Cabane and wing struts,

It all lined up well and while it dried, I applied the tail wing and flappy decals. I then put on the fusi decal piece, and sorted the rigging pieces out on the board for later. Another view,

I had also attached one end of all the rigging to the underside of the top wing. after that, I applied the decals to the floats and painted the struts. I thought I had taken pics, but I can't find them anywhere. Here's a pic from the hotel, Friday night around 11PM, with my old butt trying to adjust the floats before some CA,

Nice hotel, but they didn't have a desk, or even a chair for me to sit on while working. The room lighting was also very p*ss poor. With the help of Fernando and his light in his cell phone, I got the height adjusted. Then, with his and my two hands, we got all four struts into the holes and the plane back on the table. CA'd the struts to the floats and then the struts into the fusi. Then off to bed. Went to the show and put the puppy on the table, in my category and marked it as WIP,

Thank you Andrew, but now that the show is over, it will be going into a rebuild. Floats off, new struts made and other things and then rebuilt back up...

After a good nights sleep, I'm back. While we are on the hotel side of things...I've seen a lot of rooms in my life, but this room was a first. I can't explain why it is so, other than maybe they shot pornos in it,

A glass wall between the beds and the loo. That's a first for me. There was a big shade/curtain thing you could roll up and down on a chain,

Still, it was very strange...Back at the show.....

I had emailed the organizer's in September to get clarification on the rules for the scratch/conversion category and if WIP's were allowed. I never received an answer, so I went with it. My project was the only unfinished piece in the whole competition. I'm still not sure, but I think with the rule changes to the rules of the World Model Expo, from last July, eliminated WIP's in the scratch/conversion category. It really doesn't matter, as it was fun and I had stated earlier that I don't care if I win anything or not. It was only the second time in my life in a comp...

My three friends did well, with Fernando getting a Highly Commendable and a Bronze medal. Anton got a Highly Commendable and Thorsten got a Highly Commendable and also a Bronze medal...As a group, we did well and on Sunday, I just sang that old Beck song...

I will be keeping this post going when I start the rebuild. I have time now to do it right and finish it. I am taking a break from the table for a few days too. I have to sort through the pics and get them posted up...

Thank you all for your continued support and encouragement on my madness and a huge thanks again to Neil Merryweather!!!

                        Prost

I will answer you all with an update later on today. I am trying to sort things out and relax a little. I will only say that I didn't win anything at all in the comps, but my 3 friends did, including 2 bronze medals.....

So you missed out on the beer consuming class...
Better luck next time in the comps.

                            Looking better and better.

That hotel room is odd. Me, I'd wake up in the night for a pee (an age thing) and in the gloom walk straight into the glass divider and do myself a permanent!!! :rolling:

                              Youngerthanme,
Just had a catchup on your build and what an impressive bit of work it is, although I did wonder what the thing was with the half barrels at each end was. That will teach me to start at the begining.
Comps - I know at one time you could put your work in as WIP and it would be judged on its build merit and complexity and awarded accordingly. But from experience a lot of the judges today would not recognise scratch work and how much is involved before you even cut plastic from a pigs behind, but so long as it has a cross on it or comes with the title Sherman that is all they know. (my opinion)
Hotel room - Know we know what the reviewers mean when they say the room had a c--p view....
Anyway good to see you back on the bench instead of kneeling in front of it trying to get the booze filled eyes in focus....
                              Prost
