Still better than one hotel room I remember from the USA, which had a full-height mirror in the bathroom — directly opposite the toilet.

All a bit strange…..there was a cafe in Brighton that I visited once with a one way mirror opposite the toilet. When you sat down you could look out into the cafe but they couldn’t see in….very disconcerting. Also went in a restaurant in Dieppe once that had the entrance to the ladies restroom through the gents urinal area. Didn’t half put you off your aim the first time a lady walked through………

I once stayed in a hotel in Savannah, Georgia that had a large window between the bedroom and bathroom, and yes, the toilet faced that window so you were looking straight at the bed. There was a curtain though to close off the window.

That’s nothing Rick. In both Italy and Turkey I was using the facilities to take my ease and the female attendant came in and started mopping the floor around me,…and I’m not going into the merits or otherwise of the elephants feet style toilets. I think they are just weird.

Right Tim.....I'm familiar with the W/C's in Naples but at least they had doors on them and no windows or attendants!

In the early 80s I was showing my company's products at an exhibition in Wuhan, which at the time was a closed city - no tourists allowed. I bought a Berlitz guide on the way there and made sure I knew the symbols for toilets, so when an Australian lady on the stand next to mine asked me where the ladies toilets were I felt confident to follow the signs to a low building outside the hall, one entrance labelled for gents, another for ladies. We went in, then realised it was actually a unisex toilet block and the separate entrances were just entrances to a shared space. The facilities were a brick wall about waist height with a liquid-filled trench in front, and along each wall were rows of low brick circles like garden wishing wells, with no partitions anywhere. What was worse for the ladies was the insatiable curiosity of the local ladies, who seemed fascinated by Western underwear and gathered round my Australian friend while she had a wee.
All the exhibitors demanded that the exhibition organisers provided a shuttle bus to take anyone who needed a toilet back to the hotel.

Yessss! LOL, I remember the first time I stopped in a rest area in France and there it was the hole in the floor..... But if you put your feet on the blocks you could never miss.... And the female cleaner mopping the floor, or having to use the ladies alongside the ladies because the mens toilet was closed for cleaning....
