I won't bore you with all the details but suffice to say I've never done so much bodywork on an aircraft kit! The nacelles were the worst parts with gaps so big that I had to pack them with plasticard to give the filler something to stick to.

After a good wrestle, everything fitted together well enough for me though so I gave it a squirt of primer. That should give me a better look at what bits might need more fettling.

I'm quite pleased with my efforts given I've not done much scribing before, and the underside of the fuselage in particular was devoid of any panel lines at all after the filling and sanding, so I pretty much started from scratch, copying the illustrations in the guide book.

Now that’s looking very fine Andy. I’ve heard there was trouble with the fit of the nascelles, but you’ve shown it is fixable. Excellent rescribing :thumb2:

What a palaver, I will be interested to see how you get on with this seemingly very poor kit.
Strength isn't about what you can do, rather it's about overcoming what you thought you couldn't do.

Thanks chaps. Not the kind of work I'm used to but it's all part of the learning curve :smiling3:

Tim, the wing roots were pretty bad too, as I've seen you mention before. I ended up carving loads of meat out of the mating surfaces to get a much better fit, and elongated the slots in the fuselage to bring the wings forward a touch.

Looking good, from the primed model you can’t tell how much work it took to get to that stage so you must have done something right

That`s a fine result although it belies all of your hard work!!:astonished:

                        Thanks chaps.

The primer has revealed a few niggles but it's better than I was expecting.

Stick some mangled wire on the front and pretend it's a night fighter? :surprised:

That primer coat show very few flaws which is a tribute to all the work that has gone into this. Looks great.

                                Thanks Jim & Paul.

I'm working short days this week so should get around to paint soon with the extra free time.

I'm painting a set of these at the moment and the pearl white needed several coats, so I like to give them overnight to "breathe" before masking up for the next colour.
