Crozzled , yes I understood perfectly andy , its how I like my bacon , must be just a sheffield thing. Youre right about not giving it a panel line wash , it would just get in all the nooks and crannies and be a bugger to get out again . Perhaps another coat of satin , acrylic might fill in some of the wrinkles ? If it works I might try it on my face !

What about a Flory wash?...SO easy to use, gives great effects,and... If you don't like the outcome... Just wipe it off again :thumb2:

Thanks for the suggestions chaps but I think I'm on the way to sorting it.

A light nib (sanding) and a few coats of Aquagloss have buried the worst of the texture:

It's only in the odd place where I sprayed too wet and the lacquer has eaten into the acrylic, so hopefully by the time it's had a clay wash (UMP's version of a flory wash) and a satin varnish, it should be acceptable from a normal viewing distance (like the moon) :tears-of-joy:

I've got the props & spinners finished too. I may add a light bit of chipping to the blades but overall I'm not doing too much in the way of weathering:

It's ironic that I only glossed as I wasn't sure the vallejo would stand up well to decal solutions. Might have made less work if I'd not bothered :tears-of-joy:

                  Good recovery, Andy.
If that had been mine, I would have thought I had permanently ruined it; so it's good to see that recovery is possible.

Andy, I was about to say that a light rub down with some of the fine (1000+) sanding pads should reduce this, and after watching someone on YT with almost the same problem a couple of coats of varnish sorted out his problem, plus it reduced the gloss of the decals. But you have beaten me to it.

Thank you both. It's still visible to the naked eye but the camera hides it well :smiling5:

Had a good few hours on this today and made decent progress. There are still a few vulnerable bits to add but I'm getting closer to the finish line.

It has been a really enjoyable build. Just my kind of thing, with a great fit and thoughtful engineering.

Absolutely! Back to bulletproof lacquers for this kind of thing I think.

                              Cheers Doug

Flaps and under wing ordinance were fitted this morning. Both were such a tight dry fit that I haven't even bothered to glue the flaps. I didn't want to risk breaking their delicate brackets by removing them.
