    That sounds like fun!

Full size planes are sometimes a real pain, just like yesterday!I helped a client to run his Hawker Hunter 2 seater, but someone who was last in the cockpit left the aileron swich in the on posttion,This drained the hydrollic presure away from other parts like the canopy ram.

Without enough pressure the canopy wount open to be able to start the plane inorder to build presure......you starting to get my point?

Eventually after attaching the ground hydrollic-rig we were sorted, wit hydrollic oil all over our clouths............a good time was had by all!

That is why like simple planes so much ;-)

Haha that sounds good to me actually - just to have a job that involves aircraft at all would be great! And if it means getting covered in hydraulic fluid, even then it's better than my job!!!

Yes I do sometimes loose sight of how lucky I actually am to work on planes and to work for myself doing so!

The only problem is that if you do it all day, you sometimes start to see planes as just another darn masjeen to break down and give you problems! Because that is usually when I get to see their insides.

All is OK as soon as you see the thing getting airborn after you have worked on it though. :-) Especially after a rebuild, I see it as a "new" plane. The level of responsablilty does sometimes get a little on the "heavy" side.If I messup, someone could get killed, I keep this inmind every time I am battling with a problem and get "Irritated"

Calm down, walk away for 15 min and try again :-D

I bet it's one of the most satisfying jobs ever - seeing the anger, irritation, challenge, struggle and fun times take off before your eyes, or even at your hands! I'm envious Theuns! Truly!!

Incidentally, did you see there's word fof trumpeter releasing a 1/32 scale Buccaneer kit?

My Buccaneer now has a matt coat on it and I'm waiting on it drying as I type. 2 coats on the upper and lower surfaces seperately! Next up is weathering using pigments and chalk pastels. Photos soon!

Col , can't wait to see it done.

If I understand you correctly, you aplied the matt coat to the top and bottom seperately? Do you not get a "joint line" where the wet bottom coat oversprays the dried top coat?

I usually do the whole thing in one go as my spraying tecnique is not yet good enough.

Atleast I don't have the problem of weathering ect on the full size, the owners usually do that for me! :-)

That 1/32 kit must be realy impressive, but I assume it would cost the same as a small car!

With 2 little ones in the house that will only stay a distant dream for now..........

Yes I think, knowing Trumpeter, it will be stupidly priced and probably not that accurate - look at their 1/32 Lightning....!! Plus 2 little ones would have an infinitely higher level of enjoyment and satisfaction than any model aircraft - EVEN a Buccaneer!!!

Yes I did it seperately. It's the only way in my mind, with something of this size. I overlapped the top and bottom. I can't hold it securely enough to do it all on one go, then dry without sticking to something!

Right, just a couple of pics this time, but it's been glossed, decaled, glossed again, washed, matted and "dirtied". Let me know what you think. Final stages for this one, although the ordnance is giving me some bother... ( least I can say the aircraft itself is nearly there

                ...

OK so the pics are awful - I'll post some decent ones when I have more time.

You could be right about the Buccaneer Stuart but I've seen some shots of the test kit and the detail looks brilliant, although obviously it's impossible to tell about the dimensional accuracy.

What if it turns out to be as good as their Me 262s though? How much would we pay for a Buccaneer that good?

We gotta wait and see, but I've also found there's a Hawk trainer (a la Red Arrows), an Ar 196 and an He 111, all in 1/32, in the pipeline from Revell! What if they all come out as good as their Ju 88?

I'm doing my best to fill my wish list and these manufacturers keep adding to it!

Ooooh a 1/32 Hawk... nice. I'd not want a Red Arrow though, would have to be the gloss black anniversary scheme for me! Lovely!!

Interesting question - sweepstake on how much their Bucc would cost? haha!!

                        Hi Stuart,

I found the link to those pics of the new Buccaneer.

All ex Buccaneer Pilots we need your help, Beware Big Pics - PPRuNe Forums

You'll know more than me about this 'plane, but the detail shown here seems as good as I've seen anywhere. It certainly looks like a Buccaneer to me, so I'm up for this one as soon as I can save up enough pennies. Think I'd better start saving now - then I won't have so long to wait after it is released!

                        Gern

PS Yes. I had spotted the last pic is a Tornado and that's lookin' smokin' too! If you want confirmation of why ours is the best forum on the 'net, have a read of the posts that come with these pics! Tee hee!
