Not much progress in material value, but the office is done and buttoned into one side of the fuselage

The intake's being a pain and has currently got filler drying on it. The wings have been chopped and replacement resin wingtips attached, 6 scale inches further in.

    Comments welcome as always

      Looking good Stuart

I am busy with a 1/48 Academy F-86f-30 for a SAAF Korea buid. Will be nice to compare later.

Thanks Theuns, nice pick on the F-86. How are you finding the Academy kit? I understand there are a few variants available from them and I wonder if they are good kits.

          Stuard

          It is kit # 2162 F-86F-30

The kit is not bad, I have built many Academy kits, and it is not the best one, but far from the worst. The fit is OK, slight muscle is needed to make the fuse halves fit nicely and the wings were very slightly warped, but by no means a problem.

The detail is up to usual Academt high standards and a nice feature is that the fuse can be built split to show the complete jet engine !

Here is a pic of what I havw done sofar.

          Theun

PS. mine will be an inflight display as I don't want to cut the slats as they deployed automaticaly below a certain speed and are very visable on the ground.

Looks excellent Theuns, you obviously have the "muscle" to get it right!

The CL-13 is coming along slowly but surely. The fuse had to be glued in 3 stages as it would not fit too eagerly. filler is neeed at the wing join and the intake is going to take some time: -

Cheers Martin. Final job for this evening was some more filler on the forward wing joint and to get some Alclad Aluminium on the gear door insides: -

Primer coat number one! A few bits needing attention: -

The good news is the forward wing join looks nice an smooth.

                        Thanks Trey,

The yellow was a pig to mask, due to the contours, especially the nose. But I'm reasonably happy with how it came out.

I will update more regularly I hope.

More decals... the nose ones weren't as much trouble as I anticipated, nor was the fuselage cross with the intake underneath. Still lots to go, mainly stencils.

I don't know if the silvering will be visible beneath the subsequent Klear coat and weathering, my fingers are crossed.

                            As always, comments welcome.

Excellent paint job.I know what you mean about the Kleer.I put two coats on a Typhoon before decalling and still got some silvering.I very rarely have this problem when i use gloss varnish.Everyone seems to swear by this Klear stuff on this forum but i cant see what all the fuss is about.Maybe the old product was better than the new Pledge stuff i tried.anyway, each to their own.

Very nice Stuart. It's a very graceful shape, simple but looks right. Nice work, well done.
