BF 110 D-3 (Dragon Models)

Ray,I'll scan a couple of piccies when I get home tonight if I'm not too late. All the Ds in Vasco's book have the ribbed (J1/J4) auxiliary fuel tanks rather than the drop tank style. He does show two pictures of a Bf110E-2 model to which (obviously at different times) both types were fitted.

I'll also scan a nice picture of a Bf110C of ZG76 showing the "shark mouth" very well. It also shows the light coloured spinner tips.

In the meantime here's one without painted spinner tips but with national flags on the side (from "Bf110 Zerstorer aces" John Weal/Osprey)

@Steve, I have 2 spare 1/48 Dackelbauch 264 gallon fuel tank, but not sure if the D had them.

According to Vasco,quote "the Bf110D-3 sub variant was specifically designed NOT to take the Dackelbauch fitment". His capitals. They could take two SD1000 bombs under the fuselage instead.He's been studying these things for thirty years so I'd take his word for it lol.

Got a few more parts to the cockpit finished, these pics show the MG FF gun area, just 2 more seats and the cockpit walls to do, then the cockpit inner canopy and machine gun points, then thats the cockpit done....pheww...

Stunning work Ray, you guys really amaze me, you must use a brish with only one brislte and a magnifying glass the size of the Hubble Telescope. Really is amazing what you guys acheive. well done.

This is looking like a winner already! Really first class work Ray!

Saw a program on the box last month some museum in the USA where they are restoring one of these. They where having all kinds of problems getting the correct colours and pattern for the camo- I said to the misses, they dont need a historian, they need a model maker thats nuts about the luftwaffe. He would have it sorted in no time!

I am so looking forwards to that camo going on!
